It sure is. I can target shoot about 3.5 miles from my home and fish 4 miles from my home in the national forest.
There are also about 5 other lakes a little further away but I like the one closest.
I miss salt water that I grew up on in Northern CA and my boats I used to have but boats are expensive to maintain on salt water.
The fish sure were bigger though! I specialized in sturgeon and stripped bass. They make these stock lake trout at 12-14" look sad. But they do taste good!

I don't even really know how to fish, and am unsure if fishing would be my retirement past-time. I do like boatting though. I have lived around salt water all my life and couldn't even imagine what freshwater is like. (Don't tell anyone... but I like target shooting too, but I'm not a hunter.)

Gave up hunting a few years back. 3 compressed discs in my back after an accident limits me walking distace wise now.
But I target shoot pistols on a regular basis.
At least fishing I can sit if I have too and let the prey come to me.
