Just a little rant about my normally reasonable, responsible teenager:
So I've mentioned on here that my DD (18) moved back home - we were giving her money every month to pay all her expenses and finally had to cut that off and have her move back in. Well, as luck would have it, she landed a part time job right after moving in. She just got her first check cashed yesterday and has already spent every dime except what she will need for gas until the next payday! She got snarly with me yesterday when I talked to her about saving the money to take some college classes, and she's already talking about getting a tattoo with her next check... Well, I guess it is her money...
Then today she comes home for lunch and decides that all the stuff we have for lunches isn't what she wants to eat, and proceeds to cook up a full dinner! My pantry/freezer are all stocked up (I feel rich!), but I'm very aware of needing to stretch that food out. This exact meal that she fixed is something that I normally use to make two dinners (I make a big batch of tortellini alfredo w/chicken & veggies and freeze half for later), and this is something she has tried to do before and I stopped her because it's wasteful. It shouldn't have been a mystery to her when I got a bit peeved.
Ugh - today is meatloaf day, and I already have 10 pounds of hamburger out, ready to make 8 loaves - one for dinner, 7 to freeze for later, or else I would just serve her leftovers for dinner. I may have to anyway and just freeze all of the meatloaf today. GRRRR
So now, of course, I'm stupid, my music that I listen to while cleaning is lame and too loud because now she wants to take a nap, and I'm selfish because I don't want her to eat good food. My work here is done.
