Great post Lonesum (and you're not a loser, thats why I left that part out).
Something I would like to add that can sometimes be overlooked by people.
Be thankful for what you DO have, including going beyond materialistic needs and wants.
Remember that no matter what you're going through, someone else, somewhere, is going through something much worse.
Also, health and ability is something that can be easily taken advantage of until you are faced with those challenges.
Good luck to you lonesum, and while you're here, you're not alone.

Awww, thank you so much for the kind words and you are so right, I do have a lot to be thankful for!!! Things are looking up for me, if I can just make these payments!!! The trustee has cut my spending on groceries and lunch, I have lost about 10 pounds so far, so that is a good thing. Hopefully I'll come out of this thing thinner and much healthier.Entered debt settlement in 2006
Filed bankrupcy in 2008
Stuck with $2,343 payment in 2009

#30 on your list
Sadly, number 30 had to be tops on my list. These types of so called friends are what ruined my family financially. I do not converse with these types of souls anymore. I see it go on at work however. A new young women told everyone that she and her husband were moving into a new doublewide. Someone turned around and stated to her "so you have decided to be a trailer wife". Now to some that may not sound derogatory but it sounded snotty at best to me. The women that said this carries coach bags and drives a new mercedes as well as lives at the country club. I just can't stand the ego's of some people. This is why I am adhering to number 30! Sorry I just had to vent tonight!

I happen to live in a manufacture home. It is 2100 sq.ft, 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, with a jacuzzi. I back up to a small lake that has geese and ducks all year round. I have a lovely yard that is wooden picket fenced.
There is a large underground pool for the community. The clubhouse hosts summer bbq for the entire community, pictures with Santa, Halloween parties and other activities for children. Since living here, I've had WAY WAY better neighbors than I'd ever have living in a "snooty" newly built subdivision. As a matter of fact, my manufacture home is more solid than the new stick built home that was close to $200K in the early 2000's.
While I miss not having a basement, I also don't have to deal with it leaking and the sump pump not working and flooding out.
As with living anywhere, it's not so much what you live in but where you live. There are nasty "trailer trash" parks and there are the communities like mine that are considered "5 star."
For those of you who may consider living in a manufacture home community, do your homework. It's a great place to live!
I could afford to buy a nice house now, but I'm going to continue living here because I have such great neighbors.

thanks for the post!
I too am considering a manufactured home. The cost is just so much more conducive to my lifestyle at this time. It would actually allow me to save! What a concept! Also I no longer want to pay exhorbitant property taxes. I think more people will be thinking along the same lines in the near future. I looked at these homes and they have fantastic kitchens and baths. I mainly only care about a nice kitchen. I think the neighbors would have to be better than they were in my snooty gated community!

YES! My kitchen is a good 14 x 16' with a nice island in the middle. I've got counterspace galore and cabinets galore.
My master bedroom with the bath is a total of 28 x 16'. It is so spacious! My master bath has the jacuzzi/jetted tub, a double sinks in a large V shape along the wall. Off that room is a separate room with the toilet and stand up shower. So you could use the shower part and still have somebody else use the sink part without getting in each other's way. There is also a nice lighted walk-in closet.
I've been in some homes that had 4 bedrooms, and 3 full baths running about 2300 sq ft. You almost need 2 furnaces at that point! haa haa

we have 15 foreclosures in our fancy TH community in Sunrise, Florida (odf 104 homes). A firefighter ( 115k per year? minimum here) just took 50k from his 457 and bought a Condo in Davie and moved out 5 mos. behind yesterday. He didn't think , the dumbass, that that asset is local and they can go after it and probably will. Despite the TARP money BS on their websites the banks are doing little to help.
I am struggling, my neighbor is about to be laid off and will likely lose his home. I dread that, he is loud on the patio, not through the concrete walls, an excellent dude. We are loaded with Cops and gov't employees who are struggling. My other neighbor around the corner, here for years, her bellsouth pension dipped from $1600 per month to $505 per month. she back ended 2 mos. and is trying to save her home, NOT OVERMORTGAGED, just owes a reasonable amount.
Lighten up by getting rid of excess items and live in a way that you can enjoy. Manufactured home? your business, if you like it, enjoy it. Life as we knew it is changing.
I saw a 90 year old man having to work in a health food store because of that bastard Madoff. I am sure the man did his diligence because there is only so much you can do, you can't have XRAY eyes no matter what. Enjoy a simple life, cut to the basics.
