all hell has broke lose, at my new residence..

i had decided to give up my residence in the bk and rent in an area that i like better...it is wooded in the rear and i thought it would be great for my cats.

i found a nice place and have lived here for a month... the first day, the old phart next door informed me i was going to have trouble with him, because of general principle (he is just miserable and said i wouldnt last long)...

i have bent over backward to suck-up to the old SOB, without luck...

it hit the fan today, when the neighbor filed a complaint with animal control about my cats in his yard at night... i have 6 and only let them out late at night, as they are indoor outdoor types.....they are really friendly animals and dont hurt a thing....

animal control has threatened to give me a huge fine and confiscate my pets....

those cats are my kids and it would kill me to have them distroyed by animal control....(non animal lovers wouldnt understand)...

tomorrow morning at first light, im going to take my cats to my old residence in the country for their safety, until i can figure out what to do...

ok, im out of options, as i might have to move back to my old residence (its not under forclosure yet, as im only 2 months late).. i will have to break the lease and lose the 1100 bucks i put down...

god i hate to move back, as ive just got unpacked at the new place...

how is this going to hurt my chapter 7? the rental was 3 hundred more per month and i needed it, because im over the means test...

im in a state of shock, maybe some fresh ideas to get my brain working...

what a mess, i think im screwed....

Oh wow, I'm sooooo sorry. Gosh, what a mean, animal-hating person! That's my biggest fear too, trying to find a home to rent (and neighborhood) that will accept my 6 animals (4 cats, 2 dogs). We ultimately decided to stay in our home and file a ch 13. How are you suppose to control your cats?!? When I lived in a townhome (many years ago), it was easy, my cats never went outside, but we live in a small, remote town now and they LOVE to go explore our block! I wish you the best...hang in there and keep us updated on what you decide to do.

What about keeping them indoors? Vets always say that cats do much better, live longer, as indoor animals. In my neck of the woods, it is very dangerous to let cats out at night because of fox, etc.
I did have an indoor/outdoor cat, mostly indoor. I would let him out in my own yard while I sat on the porch and watched him. Just a thought. Hope you get it straightened out. My dog is my baby,,.

i think it is an omen...the neighbor has harrassed me since the day i moved in... if its not the cats, it will be something else... he has threatened me because the fence is six inches on his property... im just a renter, what do i have to do with a fence location...

also, he is one of these busy bodies who on the neigborhood watch..

i think it will go from paradise to hell, given enough time...

i came here to enjoy the beach, not fight with some ole sob....

most neigbors in the past, have liked me, because im quiet and very considerate.....

if im going to move back, ive got to do it quick, as another months rent will be due... i will need to use the money to catch up on my mortagage... i dont know if the land lord will cause me problems about the lease or not...

Yeah, you are probably right about the neighbor. It's not about your cats, he's just a jerk! Make sure to tell your landlord that you are moving because of this neighbor! Sure, the landlord will probably be mad that you are breaking the lease, but just add him into your creditors matrix.
You CAN'T dump them at the shelter...if they are "older", you KNOW they won't be adopted and most likely put to sleep...

Most neighbors, unless they have pets of their own, hate someone else's dog or cat in their yard(s). Unfortunately, it can create a whole ton of problems which can end up in Court. I suggest you bite the bullet with your kitties to protect them if you plan to stay there and just train them to stay indoors. While they may be "hissy" for a while about it, they will adjust and be protected and your nerves will not be shot.

Also, does this area in which you are renting have restrictions a to the amount of pets one can have? Does the person you are renting from know you have cats? It if is OK with the landlord and there are no restrictions as to animals in that development/area, there is your defense. The only problem you would run into is your kitties getting on other folks' property.

the landlord is cool, cats are no problem... it should be a cat paradise... all ceramic tile floors and woodlands on two sides of the house... i went online and it said nothing about max number of cats in city ordnance... the animal control says otherwise.....i could have found a cheeper place, but im paying the bucks to be happy...

the neighbor in question has been at war with other tennants in the past... hes just a crazy ole sob....

ive just about decided that moving back to my old place might be the best thing to do, as i know i wont be happy without my pets...

i shouldnt make any serious decisions, when im this fired up....

im tossing around in my mind, a new strategy... catch up on my mortgage payments, get my motorcycle back and fight the cc people if they sue me...
anyway, im sure moving back to my house will cause me problems with my bk....

Check the county for rules about how many pets are allowed. Then just let that amount of cats out at a time. It is 5 in my county. If you know animal control is coming to inspect, just put one of the cats at a relative's house. Even if they come unexpectedly, how on earth are they going to know how many cats you have.........round them up? LOL Would like to see an inspector try to round up cats.

I sure do wish that 'Hub and I could have you move to our place. There is lots of room in the woods and a river to boot. The only problem is with our three cat-children. They would not be happy having cat neighbors, especially my little avatar....

Is there any way you could build an enclosure for them out of chicken coop wire? We did that for our cats once and they loved it. It was right outside of the bathroom window so they could jump in and out anytime they wanted and not one of them tried to escape from that or another door after. Sure he'd probably throw a fit about that too but if animal control came and saw that they are safe and not running free they would probably give you kudos.

Personally, I wouldn't give in to the 'ole geezer. I'm just that way though.

I'd double check with the city you live in and verify if they have a limit on pets. Don't let him win if you really like the rental & location.

The problem with this, and I wish it weren't so, is that it doesn't matter what the ordinance is. The ordinance simply states the number of cats you are allowed to have on your own property. If your cats are on another person's property they have every right to call animal control and have them hauled off.

Years ago I had one (ONE!) cat get into the neighbor's yard and they actually had a trap, caught my cat and called animal control. Pissed me off because I know that they knew it was mine and never even spoke to me about any problems. Luckily my roommate at the time saw what was going on at the time and Animal Control gave him my cat, but told him we had to keep it on our property.

On another note, when I moved from a smaller town to Los Angeles, I started keeping my cats indoors because the street that I moved to had heavy traffic. They didn't, and I didn't, like it at first but we adjusted.
