    Be nice and be shafted

So, my landlord (And this guy is SO pleasant to deal with, works with you if late on rent really, very, very nice) tells me (This being 3 weeks ago) that he'd gotten a new tennant who wanted the $500 a month master bedroom.

"Far out" I replied "I'm glad because you don't have to let the house go back to the bank as you thought you might"

So the guy moves in. My landlord didn't tell me the newcomer said he'd pay the money (This was 3 days into Dec) on the 5th. You can guess how the rest of the time went.

Finally, landlord told him "I have someone who wants the room on Jan 1st, please pay by the 17th, so I can either tell them yes or no"

He moved out yesterday. Took the computer my landlord loaned him and the tub cleaning supplies my landlord gave him and the $80 bedcover (He had 2 VERY spendy beds supplied in the 2 largest rooms for free) on the bed.

Sheesh....I am not the vengeful type (May think it, but usually let it go) but this guy just honked me off...Messing with my landlord who showed charity, decency and a willingness to be colorblind.

We talked about it, my landlord was so depressed about the bedcover then anything else..That and being shafted by this guy. He was thinking of going and getting a beer..No, he's not an alcolholic, just that his pref of beer is spendy and he's stoppped buying three weeks now.

It's just that now, with this action by the renter, he's probably not going to look at someone like this guy and be "willing" to take another chance, without having loads of proof about work, credit and such..Pity, he took a chance on me and it's been great so far...But it only takes one to destroy trust...

Whew! Thanks for letting me vent...

There will always be people who take advantage of the generosity of others. Many of these people feel some sort of entitlement... or that the other person has more money than them, so they'll be okay. Strangely, these are the same people who think stealing from Wal*Mart is okay, because Wal*Mart is a corporation with insurance.

I too am very generous and have been taken advantage of on many occasions. However, the more I deal with people of this type, the less generous I have become. And now people will call me un-charitable and greedy... but, alas, I'm a product of the folks with whom I shared so much... err, who have taken so much from me.

I'm not bitter, just angry that this stuff happens.

That's terrible. Is vengence evil? I read your signature and felt like hunting all those who have wronged me in such fashion, but those times are too far gone for any lesson to be learned by the perpetrators.

I know, in fact, I have lately (And this kind of concerns me) been fantasizing about how it would have been, had I the info I do know, back when I was young...God, Columbine would have been a blip compared to my vengence...Good thing I didn't have the info hey?
