My 2nd mortage and processing time: Am I just paranoid?

Not really a BK question, so I thought I'd try this in General Talk.

I have to be honest. I filed on 7/31 and just hit my 60-day mark today and things have been smooth as butter. Filing went smooth, 341 went smoothly, and by mid-October, I had my report of no distribution.

However, I have been a bit paranoid at times about the property I am keeping. My payments have been on time, and I've actually got myself almost 1-month ahead on my first mortgage. My second mortgage (Citibank) though, has this habit of waiting forever to process my checks. They wait anywhere from 1.5-3wks from the time I send it before it hits my account.

I'm almost to the point of sending them Certified Return-Reciept just so I have proof that they are holding my checks for rediculously long periods.

Am I just being paranoid? I'm just worried that some day they're going to say, "You reaffirmed this debt and we haven't been getting your payments until 2-weeks after your due date.....blah blah blah" when I have been sending them in quite early.
    Filed: 7/31/08
    341: 9/19/08
    Report of no distribution 10/23/08
    DISCHARGED: 11/19/08 (Day 60)

I don't think you are paranoid and I would consider sending them certified return receipt as well just to be safe.

Have you considered paying your mortgage online? Once you get that confirmation number online you have proof of payment. This would save you the cost of the certified mail/return receipt postage as well.

Just a thought. I pay all my bills online and have been doing so for the past 2 years.

yes i agree, pay online if you can! I've done so for the past few years, that way i know that it got there and that it will post immediately (generally within 24 hours). saves me a lot of headache!

What could be your problem is just that you filed BK. When that occurs, your mortgage is switched to your mortgage company's bankruptcy department so it takes longer to process. Plus they are probably extremely busy. As the others suggested, if you can make that payment online, I would certainly do so. However, since your account is now with their BK Dept. they may not allow that. Give them a call and ask. Never hurts.
