Yep, it's right around the corner. I've got a majority of my Christmas shopping done.

Ahhhhh, I LOVE CHRISTMAS and all that it represents........... I thoroughly enjoy decorating every year and wished that the "spirit of Chistmas" would last all year long.
Bankruptcy is really hard during the Chistmas Holidays...... in fact, its a bummer!!!! BUT, Christmas, is about family, friends, church, and giving of yourself to loved ones and friends. In my past I have had several Christmas's where money was no-where to be found....... so I made homemade gifts, invited friends over for the evening and we all just enjoyed each others company and good food. Really one of our "better" Christmas gatherings!! No pressure of "what to buy someone", how far can I stretch my Christmas money, etc.....
Kids now days get SO MUCH STUFF...... most don't even appreciate it!!!
When I was a kid we got a stocking full of fruit, nuts and M&M's, one wrapped gift (pj's,robe, or new clothes) and a gift from Santa. My parents NEVER spent over $25.00 on a child at Christmas, except one year. One of my grandparents had passed away and they bought each of us a bycicle with some of the money from their estate.
Christmas is so commercial now, that it really takes all the fun out of it and dampens the spirit of the holidays.
MY BEST CHRISTMAS........ my mother was still living and bedridden. I sent Christmas wishes to all my neighbors (27 homes) and invited them to coffee and cake anytime on the 23rd of Dec. To my mother's delight..... families from all 27 homes came throughout the day to have coffee, cake, and wish my mom and I a Merry Christmas. They brought their grandchildren, children, pets with them to meet us. All day long people were in and out visiting with us. Some we knew real well, some were new neighbors we hadn't met yet. By the end of the day my mom was exhausted but still couldn't sleep..... she had so much to talk about and was still so excited that everyone had come to visit her. THE NEIGHBORS made her Christmas FANTASTIC!!! She talked about it for weeks to anyone that called or came by. THAT was her last Christmas, she passed away the following January. What could have been a very quiet (just me and her) Christmas, turned into a whole neighborhood sharing the holidays.
SOOOOOOO, its not what you have, or what gift you get for the Holidays, ITS WHAT YOU SHARE with others.
It's a Christmas I will never forget.................... and a Christmas that my brothers wished they hadn't missed. Though they did eventually get to see all the pictures I took.
So, give it a "little thought" this year what the Holidays mean to you!!!

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.
I'm just not in the "mood" this year
I think it's because I can't afford to give gifts and I'm dreading telling family members (they don't know I'm filing for BK). I just want to get this year over with...bah humbug (sp?)......

I find this story so heartwarming and think it is such a fantastic idea that I will imitate it in some form or fashion in the future.
I'm doing one better! Every month after Christmas, when the 25th rolls around I tell everyone at work, or wherever how many months it is until Christmas! You should hear the groans! I do love Christmas even when I don't decorate the house or give presents. My husband and I exchange token gifts and I give gift cards to his grandkids. Long story as to why.
But the BEST Christmas my kids every had they said was when I refused to buy them any presents because of the way they acted and treated their presents the previous year. They were 8 & 6. I made sure no relatives gave them anything either. We did all the seasonal stuff but no presents. On Christmas we went out to a movie and dinner (I was a single parents and their father wanted nothing to do with them). Of course, they were not happy that year but a few years later they said it was the best time they ever had at Christmas. I don't think that could happen today with all the peer pressure from kids at school, on TV, etc., but if I had kids I would try to do it again.
