That is because you are not ready to quit.

It is one of the strongest meds that exist to block receptors.

Meds are just like children, no 2 are alike. No med, no matter what Drs say, will work the same for everyone. A few years ago drs were all touting Wellbutrin (anti-depressant) as the key to quit. And it didn't work for me. Prozac was my salvation, tho it did cost me a pretty penny, as I took basically a double dosage of the weekly pill.

Nicotine can act as a stimulant in one person and as a downer in others. It is just the luck of your own personal body chemistry.

My dr. honestly looked me in the face and said "Some people just can't quit." While I am sure there are people who can't, I refused to be one of them. A 28 y/o smoking 4 packs a day is on a quick road to the funeral parlor.

If you are serious about wanting to quit, go cold turkey, and write down how you feel. Take those notes to your dr. and say "Give me w/e will combat THESE symptoms"

Withdrawl is withdrawl, again something that is totally different for each and every person, but withdrawl nonetheless. And it sucks arse big time.

If your only issue with the Chantrix (sp) is your off the wall dreams, ask for a sleep aid, change the time that you take it, eat more with it, w/e works.

Take a good hard look at yourself. Are you really and truely ready to quit? Do you want to quit for you or someone else? Cause I gotta tell ya, this is one time you HAVE to be selfish. As much as I adore my children and my husband, I didn't quit for them. I quit for ME. MEMEMEMEMEMEME!

I mean really, do you know how much time it takes to smoke 80 cigs in one day? And I like to sleep..so let's say I was up from 7 am to 10 pm. 15 hours a day I was smoking. In the car, in the bathroom, won't go to a restaurant that you can't smoke in, around the block for a walk, at the block party, always was a cig in the hand.

Find a busy hobby, one that will keep you concentrated and busy. You will need it.

Do NOT take up drinking...don't trade one addiction for the other ;)

Maybe not Bandit - but then maybe I am. And after taking that stuff for just a few days, it definitely blocks receptors - that I could tell. But the One thing I don't like messed with is my sleep. I already have issues with sleep. And when I fall asleep early and wake up exhausted rather than refreshed after 8 hrs of sleep - well that just pixxes me off. I will just have to find my will power again.

Its like watching an edge of your seat movie for 8 hours. One of those kinds where you cant even sit back in your seat. Its goes on and on and on and on and even if you wake up and fall back asleep you go right back to your 'movie'. No off switch! At least thats how I felt.
I would wake up no matter how many hours of sleep I had and feel like I needed to go to bed. It can make for a really grumpy Mama after a few days.

I had that happen when I slept too. That was one of the side effects I enjoyed.

Now mind you, I planned my smoking cessation out very well with dates, times, herbs, detox, teas, substitute for hand to mouth motion, different things like traveling to the country for a week and weekends, and had prepared long in advance of taking the little blue pill.

mmmmmm, this thread makes me want to smoke- I best stop thinking & reading about it.
