I went to another board (it rhymes with Gredit Lords) that has a BK subforum. That forum operates on the "opposite day" principle. There are alot of questions that are asked here at BKForum on a daily or weekly basis and typically they all get the same responses and advice. Over there at the other board, the same questions are asked and the exact opposite advice is given. They are far more pessimistic about what happens in BK, who can file 7 or 13, what you can exempt, what you can keep, and what the outcome will be. Some really bad advice is given out over there IMHO.

I saw that and thought the same Dirk. Really, anyone can read the Trustee's handbook to see what is allowable/permissable. Of course their is always the unknown of what an individual Trustee may or may not allow. And then that leaves all the unique individual details for each person's situation. It does seem that much of the info presented on the "other" board was just unfounded opinion/presumption presented as fact. SO, so important for people to do a thorough research job before making the BK decision. Again, I can not say enough how priceless you all are, I just really appreciate the honest opinions/information on here.

Off to make lunch. Anyone up for macaroni and cheese?

Is it me or do we all still seem to be hanging out in the hall at high school? Grow Up!

*snickers and nods* (though that wasn't the forum I wrote about this time)

I saw that, too. As I recall (though I could be remembering another board), it was there that the common advice was to file immediately, before you'd missed a payment. I saw similar advice on the MyFICO BK forum.

Agreed. I got some great (and very creative) advice in the credit forums there. Some of the attitudes towards anyone who files BK (in the BK forum, and I mean *anyone*, not people who are abusing the system) really gave me pause.

I love your analogy of "opposite day"! lol I see that in a the couple of BK forums I stumbled into the night I wrote this post. Though I have to admit, one guy in one of those forums DOES make it clear he's a professional debt collector, sooooo....it's like the story of the snake and the little girl.

Little girl: "Why did you bite me after I cared for you, fed you?"
Snake: *shrugs* "You knew I was a snake when you picked me up."

Don't ask me how a snake can shrug! That's the magic of stories
