I often think that the only way to get a different kind of politician is for all the poeple who don't like what we currently have to run. I'd run but I don't think I'd get elected or do a very good job. I love what I do and have absolutely no desire to be president.

Be interesting if Cyntheia McKinney could capitilise on the disenfranchised women voters who feel ditched. I doubt she could win the election but she could certainly tip the balance in a few states.

Ultimately it is hard to predict who will win. I think the most interesting thing to look at is Congress approval numbers are worse than President Bush's yet the Democrats have gone with a straight congressional ticket with the Obama-Biden ticket. This could actually hurt them especially since the other congress person isn't Clinton.

McCain's choice will be interesting. However we can't know how good or bad Obama's is until such time as McCain chooses. Ultimately I think McCain would be wise to choose someone who has not been a congressman or senator. He needs someone from outside Washington, someone that can reinforce his maverick aspect while at the same time appealing to the core Republicans who do not largely support McCain. If McCain picked a woman from outside of Washington he could do very well.

I wish the media would give Barr-Root, Baldwin-Castle, McKinney-Clemente and the other candidates the same attention they gave Obama-Biden and McCain-????? I think it would be a very different story. I actually believe more people would vote for the 3rd parties if we could get the media to stop giving billions of advertising away to just the R and D in their so called news programs.....

The Constitution does not establish or recognize political parties. I believe they run very much against freedom as they suppress discussion. Indeed George Washington warned against them. Franklin said we've given you a representative republic if you can keep it.

I was watching CNN or Fox-they had a story that if Obama (the messiah)wins the presidency that he would most likely nominate Hillary to the Supreme Court if any vacancies occured during his reign.. I could never picture Obama and Hillary as President and VP..

I just think it was a great adaptation. And funny.

I hope folks will get past the man's Charisma, he indeed is a good speaker and has a personal magnetism. However we cannot afford for a charming president.

I encourage each of you to sit down.

What has Barrack Obama accomplished in the US Senate since he was elected?

What did Barrack Obama accomplish in his nearly decade in the Illinois Senate?

What has Joe Biden accomplished in 35 years of the U.S. Senate?

I can think of nothing they have done that comes to mind without research, if these men who have had so many years could not accomplish anything so great that it stands out in our minds, why should we vote for them and expect better results?

To be fair what has John McCain done in 25 years in the Senate?

At least I can think of a few things McCain has done however they are not things I like and more often than not have been damaging to the nation. If he has not done any great deed in 25 years, what will he do with 4 more? Why vote for him?

I think we need new blood. I know that we probably will not get it. But sending the same people to Washington in different seats and expecting different results will not achieve anything great. If these people were going to do anything for you and me they would have done so while in Congress.

[QUOTE=CountryGirl;191470]I am such a political junkie......I just wish an honest, hardworking person had a chance to take any high office in America. You either have to be a liar, thief, or be in bed with someone (read: corporate bed partner) to have a political career in America. I know there will be exceptions, but unfortunatly those are few and far between. I always excercise my right to vote and encourage my children to be involved with discussions about it all. We have all as a family watched many debates and the DC. It is quite amazing the simplistic sense these kids make.

I think the number one thing that could be done to clean up politics is to remove the lobbiests and thier $$. Ya think that will EVER happen? Not a chance as far as Washington will ever be concerned. Until then I can hardly trust anything a politician says without wondering who greesed (sp?) his or her hand. The speeches are dynamic, the canidates polished, and the visual appeal lacks for nothing, yet I still walk away with no substance from any of them.

I totally agree with your post.. I live in the same state as Mr Obama and he did not accomplish much in the Illinois Senate or as US Senator.. He can talk all he wants about change but will he deliver.. I think not..

I've been doing my research on some of the possible McCain picks. I gotta say I now love Sarah Palin. The only problem with her as a VP pick is I'd rather see her as pres. and McCain and VP if everything I've read about her is true.
But, if McCain looses I know who I'll support in 4 years.
Wish I knew who I wanted to vote for in this electin yet. My research is slow and painful. The more I read about each cannidate the less I like them. (I'm sick of people telling me how horrible the cannidate they don't like is when I admit to being undecided. So please don't try to influince my decision. I'll do my research and make my own choice)

Well McCain has picked Sarah Palin.

This I think is probably the smartest choice he could have made. She's a young smart bright woman who is pro life, strong on fiscal responsibility and has never served in Congress. I've often wondered if McCain would live to serve a full term, she seems a strong second and in the event McCain did die in office she would make an excellent president.

I think it is probably a much better choice than Obama made. It meets two of the criteria I mentioned earlier....a Washington outsider and a woman/minority.
