The potentially high risk of these kinds of personal exposures to patients with an unknown medical history is such a hazard of our RN occupation. You are so right - all it takes is one moment of inattention or not listening to that "blood-borne precautions no matter what" inner voice. You know the odds are far on your side in this case, but the scare is still profound and reaches deep. I'm here for you if you need a cyber-friend until your usual support circle is back. <hugs>

It was in fact I went in looking like Frankenstein and came out looking like
Humpty Dumpty. This one doctor was so funny because I needed about 40 shots of novacaine in my mouth and he shoved it in saying it does not hurt. He said, "Sit still, I dont want to get poked."

I told him he needed to get poked to feel what I was feeling.

He had to go over and close the door I was screaming so loud. It was because of the way he was doing it with no regard to needles in the mouth.

I told one nurse my blood was green. She goes, "if your blood is green I will have to report you to the government." It was a hysterical moment for both!

Negative on the HIV and Hep, as expected. And my HepB vaccine is still working, from 13 years ago. So I am good to go, except for having it all rechecked in 6 months.
