still can't get a job

I've been applying for jobs now for 8 months and no one has called me. Only one staffing agency has attempted to find me a position but for some reason she's having a hard time as well.

Also, I'm sure employers shy away from people with a huge unemployment gap. But through all that time I have been looking. I needed to leave my last job because it was conflicting with my evening classes and I left them on good terms.

I finally got my A.A. degree in May and I was hoping that would help me with a job. Not the case

Not to be critical, but what are you looking for in a job? Are you pricing an entrance level to high? Would you take any job for the money? Can you relocate? I am sure there is something out there. Do you “network” with others where you can get a recommendation? I doubt the length of time is important. ‘Hub

Also if you have done anything at all such as volunteering some place, be sure to include that in your resume.

I studied computer information science in community college and I've been wanting to go to a university to get a bachelors but I've been putting it off so I can find a job.

For the most part, I am now open to anything that comes along, minus back-breaking warehouse jobs. I've already had one of those and I was there for 1 month tops.

I would be open to relocation too if it paid more than $35/k a year. Overseas like in Europe or South America would be nice for me too.

Well, there you go. Remember- while officially you can not be discrminated against - it's ultimately up to your interviwer to judge you if that interviewer is biased against non-white individuals.
Skinny interviewers have preconceived opinions about fluffy folks. Fast talkers have preconceived opinions about people who stutter, etc.

man i don't care what kind of mutt you are, you are employable. go get it. dress well, look sharp, be polite, positive, and eager. ask questions at interviews. can't get an interview? call and ask for informational interviews. that doesn't work either? start as the paint mixer. need inspiration? read about this guy: the new CEO of Target.

You are probably looking to narrowly.

Don't just look for something in the area of your degree. Being unemployed for a long time looks bad. Start looking for anything to build up a solid reference even if its Wally World or McDonalds. The goal isn't to work there forever, the goal is to build a reference you can put down for future applications. If you are bilingual and there is a demand for it in your area you might also look to Hotels and apply to help you build up some references.

You might also have to expand the area your are looking in into neighboring towns.

Its usually easier to get a job when you already have a job. So, JRScott is right - try to find a job - any job, even part time - and keep looking!
