Glad you like them Lacy. I thought maybe I was the only here into Wildlife.

I put up another one earlier in the year with elephants painting different pictures using their trunks & a little tiny paint brush... paintings in perspective AND in color. Did you ever see that one?
That one is sure to warm your heart.

Christian was a lion cub that was reintroduced into the Wild in Africa by George Adamson of Elsa the Lioness and 'Born Free' fame. George and his wife Joy had divorced but he continued to rehabilitate lion cubs and this pride is one of those efforts. Sadly, both Joy and George were murdered at different times by poachers who resented their efforts.

Christian was a baby from the lion in Born Free?

Very sad about Joy & George. Many people do not realize that one reason some animals are so mean is because humans make them mean. George Adamson proved that & the poachers did not like it.

No, Christian was not one of the cubs in 'Born Free', but George and Joy took several of the cubs and young lions from the movie and did sucessfully rehabilitate them. Christian's owners contacted actors Bill Travers and wife Virginia McKenna, who played George and Joy in the film, and explained their problem with the ever growing Christian. Bill and Virginia contacted George, and that is how Christian's rehabilitation got started. BTW the older gentleman wearing only shorts in the clip is George Adamson.

No your not alone .. I am very much a wildlife animal lover. And no dont believe I ever seen the elephant one. Maybe you could share the link with me here.

And yeah I didn't think christian was from born free. She was a lioness named Elsa. So sad to hear that about them being murdered , I didn't know that. That's what happen to that poor woman that was trying to help the gorillas also. Maybe you all seen that one " gorillas in the mist" . Really sad someone would go to that extent to murder someone that is only trying to protect animals.

I found the trailor for Gorillas in the Mist:

I never seen that one and will definately rent it or buy it. Reminded me of King Kong Isn't julie harris the same actress who played on that film about the wolves on that ranch & she gets stuck in a trap for days & saves that wolf?

Lacy, here is the one of the elephants painting in a camp:

& then there are some explaining why & how they paint, but they paint other things too, not just elephants. Pretty Cool eh?

& yah, sadly I am sure there are people who hunt elephants just for the tusk who would like these people dead like the others to keep us from learning more about them.
Now we know how intelligent these different animals really are it will help as we go to create laws to protect them.

Very Cool! I thought it was a native who lived there but had no idea it was him.
I found the whole story here & it talks of Adamson at the end.
He travelled by Bentley, ate in fine London restaurants and spent his days lounging in a furniture shop. The story of Christian the pet lion - and his eventual release into the wild - is as moving as it is incredible

Following his death, his supporters formed the George Adamson Wildlife Preservation Trust, which now does work in Kora as well as in Tanzania, where it is reintroducing the endangered black rhino and hunting dog.

The trust's chief aim is keep alive Adamson's dream of a place where animals can roam free - a fitting epitaph not just for the great conservationist but also for the lion who once lived in Chelsea.

I thought Sigourney Weaver played Diane Fossi in 'Gorillas in the Mist'? I haven't followed the Mist story as closely as I have the Adamsons. Sorry.

And yes if you havent seen Gorillas in the mist , you should. I believe AngalinaCat is right it was Sigourney Weaver that played in it.

BTW .. How are your bites ?

I am terrible with actors names..sorry...so many of them look the same to me.

the itch mites? I only work outside for a couple of hours a day then take a hot shower immediately after.. I also put on a little deet & just keep the same clothes I am going to work in with deet & off & keep them in the garage, then change right after. It is a big hassle for order. So far only a few new bites & two of them are on my scalp. They went right into my brain, itching all the way

I am pretty sure they will be done with for this summer in a couple of more weeks & we will all be safe again.

Dont forget to check out the baby moose in the video in the recent thread, running through the sprinkler...you will like it, Lacy.

They must be some other type of mite because they dont really sound like chiggers to me like we have in TX. Those little devils go for the tight spots on you.. Like around your ankles , feet , waistband .... and your private areas as well. They itch like the dickens for days !

Thanks for the tip on the moose video ..... headed that way now.
