Yes I do, they were elected to be representatives of their States, not to run for president of the United States. They should have resigned their seats if they were not going to fulfill the job of Senator or Representative that the people elected them too.

And no it was not a coincidence. They do that so that the other candidate can't attack them on their votes, but I see voting present or not voting at all to be worse as they were elected to the Congress to represent the people of their districts or states.

we are on the same page. it is just more of their dirty little tactics so they dont have to answer to anyone and/or they really dont give 2 cents as their personal agenda is more important. It is almost like you can see their scheme & when it kind of started through some of those here votes.

but then you can look at some of the others in congress & you know they are working their tails off for their people.

I was watching Lou Dobbs tonight & have not seen the man for over a month. But I am very glad we have media like him keeping them in the spot light for their dirty deeds done dirt cheap.

There are even similiarities of Obama to Lincoln, who was hated by the poor whites (who were afraid ending slavery would upset the superiority they felt over the slaves). Lincoln wasn't even on the ballot in nine southern states in the 1860 presidential election. And he only had a one term stay in the House before he was elected President, hardly a born leader at the time.

They should have all resigned. In spending time running for President they neglected the duties to those that sent them to Congress, and thus did not perform their duties. Not just the Democrats either but the Republicans as well (Paul and Hunter).

The people basically paid them for almost 2 years to run for another office without really getting what they paid for. It's like you opening up a shop and a guy showing up at the time clock, punching in, then going home for 8 hours, then coming back to punch out then expecting to get paid for 8 hours work. Any other job, professional or otherwise you did that you'd be fired and we need to hold our politicians to the same standards as any other employee.

There is so little difference between Obama and McCain that its sad folks can't see it. They only really differ in methodology. Obama plans to pay for his programs through new taxes. McCain plans to pay through his with more deficit spending. We can't really afford either.

& you certainly are entitled to your opinion & you also have your right to put all your love & trust into any politician that meets your fancy. If your senator is so great in your eyes then you should be thankful, but to be so naive to not acknowledge the corruption is congress, is just that.

The problem WhatMoney is that to many folks are deluded by the hand outs the government gives. They aren't really concerned about their politicians so long as they perceive they get something out of it. Most of them don't realize the crippling debt our nation has. Sadly for the majority its going to take some major disaster or a major war in which we reach the breaking point and then they'll realize how bad things are.

We would be far better as citizens looking to the words of John F. Kennedy "Ask not what your nation can do for you, but ask what you can do for your nation." Although used in a different context it also applies to the many welfare programs and other inefficient government institutes we have. It's time to realize that the government cannot come close to meeting all our needs unless they take everything from us. I mostly fear for the poor and the aged, because when these government programs can no longer be supported due to their weight they are the ones that will suffer the most. The old adage then Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach him to fish and he eats for life will hold true. Those that have become so dependent on federal programs will find it very difficult to make it without those programs, better that we move towards that direction now and allow folks to adjust rather than waiting the 15-20 more years for them to become completely insolvent.

What a politician says does not relate to what he does. They are all in it for themselves. If they all had only one term of let’s say six years, they perhaps would do something to leave a legacy. But just as soon as they get in, they start to run for office for the next term and that usually means buying votes by giving perks to those who want a free ride.

I fear Obama as an unknown. Too much baggage and not friendly at all to the U.S. or allays. Too familiar and “warm” to our enemies.

This Country is being tested right now by the oil crunch. All the enemies have to do is call in all their treasury notes and it would ruin our dollar value, turn us into a major depression. Money greases the wheel of progress, some wish to penalize all those bad old Oil Companies for their profits and take it away from them. We are in WAR right now and don’t know it. It was not the bullet that took USSR down and broke up the Warsaw Pact, it was economic. We could outspend them and Reagan called their bluff. To fight back, all we would have to do is have the President make a Presidential order to uncap and use all of our own oil, and the price would hit the bottom. We have more oil in our own ground than could be used in a thousand years if we all drove 12 cylinder Jaguars. Light off Nuclear Power plants, screw the “China Syndrome” it was a political movie. Very one-sided conversation going on in this topic, which started out as an attack on Obama and now extends to all politicians and government.

You all seem to fit the "angry small town white man falling back on their guns and religion" space, as Obama put it. He was referring to West Virginia and rural Pennsyvania at the time, but it applies to most of the Appalachia areas from Pennsylvania to northern Alabama and states east, the historic Scots-Irish settlements, as Pat Buchanan likes to remind us.

Libertarian Anarchy seems to be the government of choice in this topic. Will not work in a country as diverse as the United States. We'd all separate into our little religious and ethnic clans, and it'll be the McCoys and the Hatfields all over the country.
