Just so you all know, I got my Stimulus Check at 12:01a.m. on Friday May 9th. Must have been set on some kind of auto-program to deposit at that time.

Anyway, I paid taxes with TurboTax and used an ATM card to pay for the filing.

        Woo hoo!

Now I can open that certificate of deposit account for a rainy day!

I am assuming then that we will get the money. On the IRS page it say's something about reference number 1641..... Anyone know what this means? Where supposed to get the money today but we had a check sent to us for the 07 tax refund even though I put an account for direct deposit. Has this happened to anyone? I dont care when I get the money as long as I know I'll get it....

Still waiting here as well. Called the IRS and our amendment (which didnt change anything (no extra refund and nothing to pay) just a tiny amount 1099int that didnt come in until the end of February). Still has not been processed. That rotten 1040x that took me 5 minutes do do sits in their system waiting for someone to take care of it. Maybe 10-12 weeks even. I am glad that everyone got their checks but I wish the people at the IRS took care of all the tax returns/amendments that were in by April 15th. Then focused on the checks. Of course I say that.... if it were at least showing in the system I suppose I would be saying different.

I have yet to hear of the IRS doing anything fast or that makes sense.

My $600 was direct-deposited today as scheduled. I used HR Block online to do my taxes and paid the fee with my debit card. My SS ends in 30.
BK 7 filed and discharged in 2004 after 30+ years of perfect credit. Life HAPPENS.

We're leaving for Vegas in 2 weeks but I'm hoping the IRS keeps the money to go toward our 2007 tax bill. How will we know?

                            Mr.

My husband and I went to a BK attorney yesterday and he asked us if we had received our stimulus check yet and we told him we hadn't. He told us not to file BK until after we get the check because if we did the trustee would get it. I used TaxCut to figure our taxes but didn't have the refunds direct deposited so we won't be getting our check until sometime after May 23rd. Last digits of hubbies SS 16.

Wow, it's so different everywhere. Our trustee doesn't want our stimulus, even IF the IRS didn't take it. The stimulus should of had stipulations where it goes to EVERYONE, regardless of whether they are in BK or owed taxes. It is MEANT to stimulate and help the economy, not pay debts.

That's Congress for you , overpaid bureaucrats who want to look good and don't think of the ramifications of everything they pass to look good . I do agree a provision should have been made to make it exempted in BK cases. I also believe it should have been written so that if someone was married to a foreigner who does not have US legal status they'd still get it. (For example some soldiers who are deployed abroad and married abroad are being denied a stimulus check because their spouses are not legal US residents, despite the fact that the soldier has been deployed overseas the whole time of the marriage...)
