Well I found out my DH is correct with our check. We had it direct deposited but it went thru some thing called the Santa Barbara Bank & Trust? So yup will be getting a paper check at the end of may. Ugh I guess I was wrong again LOL.

Well, that settles it. That's my whole problem right there. I paid Turbo Tax my filing fee through my refund, and I am now royally screwed.

Did someone on here say they did the same (Turbo Tax, Santa Barbara Bank and Trust) and did get direct deposit of their stimulus rebate? Did I read that correctly?

Hello, I'm new here, found the site by googling questions about this stimulus and BK.

                Filed Chapter 7 - 11-30-2007
Discharged: 3-11-2008 but held open for my tax refund.

My trustee, (without my knowledge) had my normal tax refund intercepted. My attorney told me to file taxes normally and once money was deposited, I had to get a certified check for the amount Trustee was taking from refund - but trustee had IRS send him the check.

I had filed taxes for direct deposit. But IRS sent paper check to my trustee. NOW, I am wondering if my stimulus check will be direct deposited, or if the IRS will send my stimulus check to my trustee in the same way they did the taxes????

I've asked my attorney's paralegal and she had no clue. At same time I asked if I get to keep the check, and she said "I think so - because you filed bk before the stimulus was made into law - don't spend it and call back when you get it and she would check."

Just wondering if anyone else had something similar to this happen. I've tried the "where's my stimulus" and it will not work for me. Last 2 digits are 39 - so I am hoping next week it will come?! I HOPE

I used turbo tax but paid with my visa check card. I hope I'm not screwed too.

I talked to the irs today. they told me there is a catch for this direct deposit of your check. if you filed your taxes with a third party (taxslayer, turbo tax, etc....) you will get a paper check not direct deposit. i knew there would be a catch there always is.

I can only imagine the all out problems and heartache this has caused. I really wish this information had been available prior to this. I called the IRS just yesterday, and there was no mention of this whatsoever. I was assured by the IRS agent my deposit was coming next Friday. Guess not!

You can't believe everything the IRS tells you. This only applies to those that used Santa Barbara Bank & Trust to pay for your Turbotax fees. If you used the TurboTax free filing online program (for low income filers), or you paid for TT and filing fees without using the RT service, you should still get direct deposit of the stimulus, based on the turbotax link posted above.

"This applies only to TurboTax customers who used the "refund transfer" or RT service when filing their 2007 tax returns. The service lets you pay for your tax preparation and/or e-filing from your refund proceeds, for an additional fee, under an agreement with the bank. This allows customers to pay using their refunds, rather than credit cards.

This IRS decision also applies to taxpayers who used "refund anticipation loans" or RALs (loans made to tax filers against their expected refunds) on their 2007 returns. TurboTax does not offer RALs."

Not that anyone realized this when filing online; as usual IRS rules keep expanding until they are incomprehensible.
