I'm actually excited about it for the first time in a couple of years. My mom died almost 3 years ago (it will be 3 years in Jan) and she did Christmas really well so it's a hard time of year because of that, but also, we haven't been able to afford to give Christmas gifts for several years. I just ordered my husband 2 small gifts this week and I am SO excited. It's not much, but it's cute and I'm just so happy we can buy each other gifts this year (even if it's small). And although I don't plan on going nutty for my 2 year old since her grandmother will most definitely go overboard again and the child has too many toys anyway, I am excited I'll be able to stuff her stocking this year.
For me, it's the sign of the financial tide turning in our favor - finally . I will also have the extra money to buy all the ingredients to make my favorite holiday treats... I think I'm finally far enough out of the tremendous shock and grief from losing my mom that I'll be able to enjoy the holidays for the first time in what feels like a very long time.
This will be the first Christmas since I've had kids that I won't be charging their gifts. I'm picking up gifts a little at a time. I'm really excited about Christmas this year and gifts seem more special when you spend CA$H.
I love to cook and I am thinking about this year buying small photo albums and copying recipes and photos and sending that out to all our family.
We have always done a HUGE Christmas. Not this year.

I've already started my shopping. I got three presents down, and picked up our anual ornaments at a craft fair a few weeks ago.
Between hubby and I we have seven more paydays until christmas. 14 more gifts to go still.

Its our baby's first christmas, this time last year I was such a nervous wreck about the pregnancy(very high risk situation), and our baby is now here! We won't be doing gifts per se, a DVD for the grandparents will have to "do".
Its exciting just to decorate our new residence, it has a fireplace and a mantel, didn't have that in the house we had to give up. Can't wait to get that first xmas stocking for the baby!!
And hopefully our 60 days will come and go, and we will be able to relax with our holidays. Ebay is so great to get toys and such for the older one. Gifts for us adults is a great marriage and the family we have created together. I am sure to be a blubbering fool this year

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, Baby's First Christmas.......... how wonderful is THAT..............
Christmas is about our spiritual lives and our families...... not the commercial aspects of it.
No gift of any kind could replace the "time" I spend with friends and family during the holidays.
If the budget is "tough" this year, try buying a lot of small things at Dollarama..... or Everything is a Dollar Store.......
Kids love over size stockings or gift boxes filled to the brim with oodles of things to unwrap...... even if they are inexpensive little items (hair barretts, crayons, stuffed bean bag, etc......
It doesn't take much to make a little one happy especially if there is a lot of love at home.............
An older kids often need a "lesson" that money doesn't grow on trees..... it's hard earned........ and sometimes it's just not there......
Of course every kids wants what everybody else is getting (and its usually the most expensive thing you can buy)...... but that doesn't mean they need it or you can afford it....
While in bankuptcy, be realistic about what you can afford this year.......
It may be a "lean year" BUT make it a "loving year"............ and celebrate the real meaning of Christmas....
You and your kids BOTH will remember it.............

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

What are you getting me, JollyGG?
Something BIG I hope. Like a red mustang 65 to 73 will be fine.
Oh boy I am really excited about Christmas this year. My last two Christmases were AWFUL, just awful. I know having money for gifts isn't the reason for Christmas but being without ANY money and SO worried about creditors and how to pay your next utility bill, etc., does take its toll on Christmas spirit. I was so utterly depressed.
With BK behind me, I started saving a little bit each week toward Christmas, and I'm ecstatic about that. Like the "Christmas Clubs" of years ago. Only I am sending it to INGDirect internet savings bank. It's building up!
I don't plan on being extravagent on any of my holiday celebrations, but not having a cloud of worry over my head will be so wonderful for a change.
On a sad note, I lost my Mom in July so it will be our first Christmas without her. However, she lived a long and good life...when it was her time to go, it was a blessing. I feel she will be with me this Christmas in my heart.
Here's a really great link for "all things Christmas" if any of you are interested:
We are the World's largest Christmas website and the Internet's longest ongoing celebration of Christmas. Christmas news, Christmas history and Christmas community is found here.
(Hope it's okay to post that.)

I CAN'T WAIT!! I have been ignoring time hoping my 60 days will pass so it has definitely come up quick. My DD's birthday is the 21st so this will be her second Christmas - 1st birthday. She was due on Christmas though, we just hurried it along.
