As long as Ron Paul is running on a republican platform, there is NO WAY I would vote him.

We currently HAVE a republican president. Aren't things messed up enough already?

I have a couple friends who are excited about Ron Paul, and I told them, "Okay, he might be a good candidate (I don't really know that much about him) but the bottom line is, we've GOT to get the Republicans out of office. Even if he has different ideas than the current admin, there is no way he wouldn't have to tow the line more or less, on the general plan, the way things have been going.

So I say, I'll vote for WHOEVER the Dems run this time, just to take our country in a better direction. The Bush Admin. has hurt our reputation with the rest of the world, continued to borrow money (largely to fight that unpopular and needless war), driven up the price of everything by driving up the price of oil, backed down on all sorts of environmental protections, taken away rights and freedoms, and ... do I really need to continue?

Note that I am not really a Democratic Party guy. I am more Libertarian in my views. However, the fact is that we have a 2 party system. No independent can win. So it's the lesser of evils. Do you want more of the same, or do you want change?

I say we have to have change, and the Dems are the only hope we have of that.

Obama:

First black in White House? The supremists will probably not tolerate this....
First Muslum in White House? I'm sure Iran, Iraq, Palastine,and other foreign countries will eat this up......
Family orientated.......
Odds of serving a full term? Slim... assassination probable......

Clinton:

First woman in White House? Some men aren't going to go for this. But at least she's a "stand by your man" woman!!!
Able to handle the pressure? Probably, well educated and has knoweldge of White House procedures....
Family orientated.................

Other candidates offer little substance to their platforms. They talk big, but can they follow thru? Are they for the people or for own self esteem?

Should a woman or a black be electable? Yes.
ARE they electable? I have major doubts about that.

But I Do think they could be electable IF all the youth and all the blacks and Hispanics and all those people who don't usually vote would get out and vote!

The bottom line is, none of the other Dems are really electable either... so Clinton is probably the most electable riding on the coattails of her husband who was actually quite popular even if he was hated by many.

Clinton was very popular with black people, and so I think a Clinton/Obama ticket could be very popular. Also this would help head off the assassination problem: They would have to assassinate both of them.

It's a shame we live in a country where assassination does seem to be a factor...

Anyway, I do think Clinton is a little more electable than Obama, even though I think Obama might ultimately make the better President.

AND this is WHY I like you Robivi3!!! We are so on the same page.
However that said, despite the fact Huckabee is a Republican (for those w/ anti republican views) I think everyone is overlooking him as a great possibility. Dems like him, he is pro alternative energy, pro family, pro education, pro crime control, honest and is very much pro tax credit for the working middle class and poor. His views on immigration are not liberal and are not hardline..they are fair...take a look at the Arkansas past. If anyone examines the fair tax.....I mean really examines it and doesnt listen to the other shucks on TV they will realize this makes sense. Many of my friends from church homeschool and he is pro education choice as well.
So many worried about illegals would not do well to vote for Hillary. Sorry.
Anyone 'libertarian' would be fair tax. Im a conservative libertarian. I would vote for Ron Paul if it wasnt throwing away my vote at this point. Huck is more likebale anyhow.
I know we must get rid of shrub, but lets be real..we have a Democratic everyone in office now. Things would be in balance if we elected a moderate.

I'm not 100% sure who I'm voting for, there certainly is an interesting choice of candidates.

I really don't feel like the republican party is going to take the cake. I think Bush did it in for them for a while, even I'm kinda sick of them.

Giuliani, I used to love. But it got to the point where he was using 9/11 for political reasons. He brings it up at totally irrelevant times. I don't like that

McCain, I liked, until I read an article that his campaign had spent almost every dollar it had raised - if he can't manage his campaign finances, how can he manage a country? Mitt Romney...personal reasons that I'm sure a lot of us share.

Obama...what the %&$#? He became a senator one day, and decided to run for president the next. I like him, but not enough time in office. (Yes i know he was in the Illinois state legislature, still not enough time) I like my presidents old and experienced.

Edwards...people just don't like him and/or don't know enough about him.

Hillary...going to win. Doesn't really matter what anybody thinks of her.

I'll probably vote for Hillary, but I'm still not 100% sure.

Please don't ignore or waste your right to vote. I have been a naturalized US Citizen for 47 years, and I consider voting much more than a right: To me, it's an OBLIGATION.

The way I look at it is... if you vote, you have a right to b**ch when our administration screws up. If you don't vote, well... you still have that wonderful freedom of speech, but you need to realize that your apathy is part of the problem.

It's too late for you to register to vote in the primaries. But please vote in November at least.

I love to read all the posts...people who agree with one another and politly disagree with one another. I wish the election could be as civil as the discussions on this thread. I am already sick of it this time. I come from a political family and I worked on the 2004 campaign for 10 months and was a delgate to the convention. I want nothing to do with it this time. I think the American people don't want another set of nasty mud slinging. I know I don't.

Obama is certaily not a Muslim, and his unusual background has been widely distorted. By now it's a popular urban legend that has been debunked.

I'm glad Obama won S. Carolina! I've been on the fence between him & Hillary but at the end of the day - Hillary has changed her tune too many times and I just don't trust her. It is time for some new blood.

And please I'm not attacking any opinions here. Those of you who have known me know that I will defend a position ravenously but on this I will let it stand. I am certain that there will be explanations and posts on excusing this for whatever reason.

This tears it, it is a slap to anyone who loves the Country or serves it. I had heard about this incident but did not believe it to be true until I recieved it today. I loved his "early days" elephant riding stunt, ignored the voting record to some extent and tried to take the man seriously and even watched him this morning.

Disloyalty? That is exactly what this is. He has become in my book a dirty, disloyal fifth columnist aiding our enemies. "Hussien" fits. He is entitled to his opinion. I am entitled to the opinion that he is a disloyal scumbag and a wolf in sheeps clothing. I hope they run him, it will be a landslide but not in his favor. The voting record hasn't been put up to the forefront yet.

Ron Paul is to me a Libertarian. I am in no way a Libertarian. I worked for them when I was 17 getting signatures (answered an ad, 13 cents per signature). They believe in pulling all government restraints off of the people and total free enterprise. They hold all forms of pornography as "free speech". If you look into the Party Doctrine and consider what they believe in as freedom I doubt you would be a "Libertarian". Most of us want some restraint on others so that we can practice "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" which has nothing to do with allowing free enterprise and speech to flow any way it wants.

Many people, even some closet Bush supporters have joined the fashionable and very elitist "Bush bashing" and yes there is some bashing to be done. I have heard many of his speeches, when he shoots from the hip some of them have been damned good. When his fathers "Northeast elitist" speech writers work for him he does mince words and fumble. I would say he needs more of his own "folks" to write his speeches. As far as being stupid, no I don't think so. But I am very sorry to break with fashion here.

Fumbling the war? We needed Saddam out, yes. We should not have dismantled the bearaucracy and put Iraqi McDonalds managers into the new Government (one locally that I know of). He should have actually taken a lesson from the great Democrat and author of the War on Poverty, LBJ and truly invented a "Gulf of Tonkin" incident but he flubbed it in the information age. Am I nuts for the Prez? No, when Kelo vs. New London was lost in the Supreme Court I called the White House and registered my dissapproval and asked the Prez. to make a statement on how he viewed the death of private property rights in America. I even explained to the young lady that I would defend my property with my life if my property was seized for private use, she then quickly transferred me and my name, address and nyumber were taken and I got a response, rubber stamped of course. I even registered my dissaproval of the BK act with him and quoted Hillary's response when it came before Bill Clinton during his term. (I was going to be interviewed by the Kerry Campaign because I talked to a Lady who worked with Hiillary when this act came up the first time). Even called to thank Bill for the Wet feet, dry feet policy he enacted, thought it was excellent.

The point that I am making is that bashing the Prez is very, very fashionable, so chic that we all sound so wonderful when we do it. The other point is that if Obama didn't have his record and I went by the speech he would be great. On the other hand Hillary is better for families. I am really unexcited about Romney, McCain and especially "Mr. 9/11". he was the man for the moment not for the Presidency, he still thinks old Jewish New Yorkers inhabit South Florida (and no I am NOT anti-semitic, my son attends the Rabbinical College of America in New Jersey). In truth except for the Obama deal I am ambivilent but now strongly opposed to this man, so I guess I am unambivilent?
