I went thru a banana Laffy Taffy phase when the kids were little. That was, until the Laffy Taffy pulled one of my root canal caps off. No more Laffy Taffy for me after that.

    I remember penny candy days.

I would go with Dad to a little Mom and Pop store on Sundays to get the Sunday newspaper. Dad would give me a nickel. Sometimes a dime, if he didn't have a nickel. And I could buy anything I wanted.

Bubble gum was 3 for a penny. Red Hots, these hard candy cinnamon squares, were 2 or 3 for a penny. A box of candy cigs was a penny. Maybe 2 cents. A nickel got me a nice stash of goodies. A dime would be a bag full that would last a week. Chocolate wasn't around then. Not for daily treats anyway. Just in Tootsie pops or Tootsie rolls.

I remember Bit o Honey. We had a thing called "Cat Tails". A long tubular stick. Coated with toasted coconut on the outside and filled with a peanut butter flavored hard center kinda like a Butter Finger.

Our candy cigs didn't have brown on them for the filter. Just red on one end for the fire part. They were white and powdery with a bit of a licorice flavor to them. They still sold them when my kids were little. I remember seeing them. But they were called "Candy Sticks" and there was no "fire" color on one end.

Oh that is right, they were red on the ends, like a fire. I don't know why I thought they were brown but I remember now, they were red.

I remember the old penny candy especially the bubble gum machines out front of stores by the nickle horse & 10c car we could ride. One time we were at KMart or somehwere like that & my cousin & I took our penny & put it into the gum ball machine. Only to find out the machine was broken. BUT! that was good for us because it kept turning & turning & turning...We could not believe it was giving us all the gum balls we wanted for only a penny. Jason turned it about 50 times & filled his pockets with gum balls.
      I said, "you are stealing."
Then I turned around put my penny in & turned the gum ball machine about 50 more times & filled my pockets with colorful little round bubble gums.

Yep, Halloween candy all around the office here..... each person has a different favorite and we run from office to office to raid the candy jars......(somebody else's always taste better)......

Tomorrow night is "trick night" - watch out for everyone's babies out there having fun.....

Me, I'll due my time sitting on the porch giving out treats..... and watching my girls (dogs) get excited when the kids come up...... their more curious than anything else, they don't bark....

Yay! Time to tee pee Minnmouths house.

I already did mine. I spoiled it & went thru 2 big bags of peanut butter cups the first week of October. This reminds me though, to hit the grocery store the day after halloween for a few more bags of treats at 75% off!

DEFINATELY WATCH THE CHILDREN & PETS NOW!
AND GO THRU ALL THE CANDY TWICE TO MAKE SURE.

I chipped a tooth 20 years ago on some nuts inside a cookie. Split it right up the middle. I can almost feel a now & later pulling a filling off like a suction cup, just talking about it.

I toss that one around as my favorite too. That one really sticks to the teeth. I wonder how they get that woody/crispy texture on the center? It is so yummy!

That is what I was thinking too. One last stop by the candy counter to fill up my pillow case before they shoot me. Hopefully I get to keep it.

I forgot about Hot Tomali, but I remember getting that one at the movie theater. They are hot too.

Do you ever have cry babies? Real sour candy that brings tears but it is fun to pucker up sometimes.

Bandit, that's a real nice candy site you posted.......lots to choose from......lots of specialty items....

Also Cracker Barrell has a lot of the old candies we're talking about..... expensive - but DELICIOUS.....

Why couldn't I have been beautiful, instead of having a "sweet tooth"?????? Guess you can't be sweet and beautiful at the same time, huh???

HAPPY HALLOWEEN YOU ALL!!!!!!! BE SAFE!!!!!

Bandit, Fanny Farmer might be a northeast store. Was an old fashioned candy store with the wooden glass cases. I grew up in a small town outside NYC and going "uptown" was a big treat.

A really big treat was taking the train into NYC with Grandma. Now, "them" were some candy stores.

Yep, I'll definitely hit the candy sales tomorrow!

I won't be the poster child for Clearasil, but the "Before" picture for Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers or the industrial strength Thighmaster.

                                Oh well . . .

I'm kinda sad we won't have many trick or treaters this year as most kids go to my old neighborhood to trick or treat and we just moved out in the country. I just love seeing the little bitty kids all dressed up and their pets, too. They are just too adorable.
