When it rains it pours, will it ever stop?

As if its not bad enough that I'm in the middle of planning a chapter 7, other things keep popping up.

I'm sent out of town with a rental car for work, and get a speeding ticket. Yeah i know, my fault but I sure coulda done without it. (Tuesday)

Get back from the work trip, and get handed a 2 weeks notice from my best employee. (Thursday)

Check the mail, and get a notice from allstate that they are dropping my homeowners insurance in February. (Friday)

I'm scared to leave the house. I've had enough. I can't afford for my homeowners insurance to go up. If it does, we'll be extra strapped. (we're keeping the house after the bankruptcy).

No matter what, we can't seem to get ahead. Car insurance payments, and other misc. stuff keeps coming up. We are barely making it at all. At the same time we are going through this, we are somehow supposed to be saving up for the attorny fee to file in November. LOL! Yeah right. I think its time to borrow from the 401k for that one. Not much in there, but I have just enought that they will let me borrow $1100, the amoutn I need to pay the attny. What a coincidence.

I think we can ALL relate!! Keep your head up!! At least things usually seem to happen in "three's" and it looks like you just got three pretty good ones so maybe you're good for now.. Why did Allsate cancel? Did you have claims? They canceled on my parents after only ONE claim for a small burglury of some outdoor furniture and BBQ equipment!! That was years ago. Then they went back to them again then they got hit with Katrina and tried to give my parents $8,000 on a legit $35,000 claim so my parents took them to court. Well Allstate knew they were wrong and ended up settling out of court for $65,000 in a panic to keep from going before the judge! BAM! Got em back!!! Not that that helps you feel any better now, but allstate is horrible about canceling!!!! Sorry to hear about your run of luck this week. Things will get better. Hang in there and try to do anything you can to not cash out or take a loan from you 401K. That is protected money and the payback won't be an allowed expense on the schedules. Rest today and get ready for a better week!!!

      Been there, done that

It sucks that these things all seem to pile up. I've been there. Down on luck with someone kicking you in the ribs and you can't get up. Just as you think the fight is over and start to pull yourself up someone kicks your hand out from under you. Down you go. <sighs>

Things will get better. Maybe not as soon as you would like them to. (took 2 years for my situation to improve) They do get better... slowly.

      Sorry about your crappy luck.

Wow, Jason. That is some bad luck for sure! As Cindy said, hopefully your run of three is over and it will be smooth sailing until filing time.

          Things are looking up!

          UPDATE:

Saw my attny today. Will be getting a loan from my 401k to pay her so we can file Ch7 Oct 1st!!!!!!! Strange to be excitied over filing bk, but it sure is gonna be a relief to get this thing over with. I am a little over the median income, but my means test shows me a little over $500 in the hole every month Funny to be happy about that too, but in real life (not the means test) we are making it, just barely. My wife dragged me grocery shopping for the first time in a few years. Holy smokes is food ever expensive!! I need a raise AFTER my bk of course!

Its weird the things we will actually get excited about during the stessful times in our lives!! One day you will look back and chuckle about actually getting excited about being 500 in the hole!!! See things are looking up!! The important thing is that you are moving forward with your plan.

My husband does the grocery shopping and I get really frustrated when he spends so much money. So sometimes he makes me go so I can see. And every time I go it ends up being more because I end up just putting more stuff in the cart!!!

Just my 2 cents, I had 2 401k plans and quiet a few loans on top of saving extra to the plan. About $600 bucks went to my 401k through my paycheck automatic deductions. The Trustee didn't wink an eye, you might want to check into that!

We're filing Ch7 , and our schedules show us so far in the hole that we'd all be very surprised if the trustee finds a way out of it to convert us to a 13. My attny knows the trustee very well, and things should slide right on through with no problems.
