How hard is it to find a rental apartment with only a 625 FICO score?? My main problem is not collections/judgements or multiple late payments but 'too much' credit card debt. I mean if I had perfect credit, no credit card debt, enough saved, I could be buying a house or condo since there is alot to choose from especially under $350,000.
I basically have to find an apartment by October 1 since I have been subletting illegally for the past 5 months and face the strong possibility of being evicted not for non payment of rent but because the primary tenant never obtained the property managers permission. Based on my income & what I can afford I can pay up to about $1,600 a month.
I don't mean to sound arrogant, but I earn over $75,000 a year which is more than the mean & median household income for this area of the country -- Hartford County Connecticut and find that it is harder to get an apartment than it was back in the NYC metro area where rents are substantially higher, and vacancies lower.
Should I just take the risk and offer to pay 6 or even 12 months upfront so I am not living in my car or in someones basement with a 40 mile + commute each way to and from work??
