    Rant - who's the nut?

We are going on vacation tomorrow - to a cabin for a week. My fishing vacation.

The cabin has a large bedroom, and a kitchen, and a sitting area.
I know the kitchen there has dishes, pots and pans ect. but I can't believe they'd have everything I like to use.

So tonight I'm getting together my good cooking knives and other cooking utensels, as well as spices, oils, and some food items ect. I decided not to being any pots or pans since they say they have them.

And my husband thinks I'm a nut. He doesn't understand why I'm bringing all this stuff.

Well, because we are going to be in a cabin for a week, in an area that barely has any resturants which I wouldn't want to spend the money for anyway and....ummmm - because I'll have to cook if we want to eat. The closest supermarket will be miles away and probably way overpriced because it will be in the middle of nowhere. And why buy stuff I know I'll need?

So I think he's the nut because tomorrow he will wake up, throw 3 things in his suitcase and he'll be ready to leave. He just does not think.

Thank you for this post because I thought I was the only knife lunatic. Anytime I have to go to someone's house where I will be doing the cooking, I take my Wustoff knives with me!

Most of the time my trip involves plane travel and it bugs me that I have to "check" my baggage containing a few pieces of clothing and my knife block. Yes, I take the wooden block, too, so as not to damage the edges of my precious knives, lol.

oh yeah Cindy - I will totally remind him EVERY TIME!

B12 - good knives are essential to good cooking! and besides, I will hopefully be having to gut, & scale fish (it's a cabin on a lake for the purpose of fishing) - so how could I do that without my knives???????????? Management there says they supply everything but they probably have knives with no edges in the cabins, you know - generic knives. These aren't luxury cabins.

I'm also bringing my own garlic, and my garlic press. lmao

and to take this one step further, yes - I will bring my laptop in the hopes that I will be able to pick up a wireless signal. Management is on site and when I spoke to them, it sounded like I might be able to hook into their wireless. We'll see. I might be forced to go a week without the bkforum, that will be tough.

Enjoy your vacation, danaf! Hope your knives, herbs, and spices get a great workout on those freshly caught fish and your husband openly appreciates all your efforts!

                What's A Vacation???????????

Is That Something You Buy At The Grocery Store And Since I Only Go Once A Month - I'm Missing Out On The "bargain"???

                Lol
