When someone is banned, when are they allowed to return? I am not referring to any specific case. Just in general.

How does Ban work

I remember one individual who was banned after he told a new member to give up some of her property, move and get another job. I responded to him by telling him to quit being a pompous ass. Later I checked and both his post and mine were deleted, and he was banned. He was a jerk to everybody, I actually saved one of his posts where he was implying that I was defrauding my creditors and that my BK would be objected to. But since he was banned I didn't have to throw it in his face to show him he was wrong.Filed C7: 04/25/2007

I think the moderators can tell, even if a new nick were to be born it is coming from the same individual who was banned, I'm assuming by the individuals IP ADDRESS, just a guess, I'm no computer whiz, THATS for sure.

Well folks, not to divulge what we do as Moderators, but we discuss how to handle a member's behavior and we also discuss whether the ban should be temporary or permanent. Temp bans restrict the member from being able to post and when the ban period expires, that member can once again post. Of course there are the no-brainers when the ban is permanent, like offensive posts and worthless spam, like most of you have seen in the past.Bankruptcy History:

All members who disrupt the forum are confronted by a Moderator. They are reminded to read the Forum Rules and often are temporarily banned 5-30 days.
Members who do not heed the warning and continue are banned permanently.
We have trolls that visit the forum regularly and we know who they are and where they are coming from. These are always permanently banned.
Everybody "be nice" and we dont' have this problem to deal with....

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

As BassBoy and Minny said, we do have our fair share of "Trolls". People who sign up a User Name specifically for the purpose of spamming the Forum.
There is "No Clickie for a Penny" spamming allowed at this Forum.
Those people are easily identified and generally Banned before they even get an opportunity to post their spam links.
Members who are genuinely learning about BK or contribute useful information may be contacted by more than one Moderator. AND given several opportunities to correct their behavior.
Warnings and/or a temporary ban can follow if the Member does not correct their behavior.
One note I'd like to make here folks,.................
And Minny has already posted a Stickie Thread about this subject,..............
We are all here because we made financial mistakes.
We are all in the same boat here. No one should judge any one else based on the reasons Members decide that BK is a possible solution to their financial situation.
We all work together on this Forum. If you don't play by the rules, you don't post. Simple as that.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06

As BB, SF, and Minny have already posted, we mods take our responsibilities to keep our forum spam-free very seriously and also strive to ensure our little "bk bus of happiness" community helps and supports each other. We don't temporarily or permanently ban regularly contributing members without public posts and private PMs first pointing out problem behaviors and encouraging correction.
As an fyi....between all the mods we probably permanently ban at least 8-10 new spammer "members" EVERY SINGLE DAY. Rarely one slips through and manages to post something, but with our group of mods patrolling the forum over most hours of the day, spam doesn't stay posted for long. Wam, bam....our goal is to keep potential spammers from ever seeing the light of day here!I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Thanks to all the moderators for the excellent job you are doing. I hope you are rewarded in another life (or even here on earth) for your dedication.
