My son just turned 3 in June. He isn't potty trained either. My 4 1/2 yr old daughter was potty trained by the time she was 3 though. My son for some reason is behind on everything when compared to our daughter. We're not worried about it. He's starting to show some interest, and just recently went number 1 and 2 in the potty! He's not too interested in trying it all the time though.

Like you, my mother is bothering us about it too.

This is very typical. Research studies show that in the first five years of life, boys' bodies mature more slowly than girls in almost every way.

Thank your mom for her advice and explain that in her day three years was the cut-off, but now doctors understand a lot more about how kids' bodies mature than they did then and the new cut-off age is five. After all, I'm sure she's noticed that no one is still in diapers when they start kindergarten

juststupid (I hate calling you that LOL) Little Georgie does not want to try some days either, my mother just makes me feel so bad. I was really trying but I am going to wait and go slow.

I hear that one, Fresh. Mom and dear ole MIL both dealt me more than their fair share of "My kids NEVER did that." about a lot of things.

I'll tell you one,.................

Sis has 2 kids. Daughter is 18 months older than our son. Their Son is 4 months younger than our Son. Then our daughters are 20 months younger than Nephew. Talk about a handful when we got together when they were wee ones.

We go to visit Sis. 5 kids ages 5.5 to 3 years old. Family room on one end of the house. Bedrooms on the other end. Ranch style home. You know how it goes. When things get quiet, they are into something. Sis goes to check on them. They were having a gay old time jumping on the beds.

Sis comes and tells me that my kids had taught hers to jump on the bed. I said my kids had never jumped on the bed before that day. She said her kids hadn't ever jumped on the beds either.

But the 5 of them got together and their one cumulative little brain cell decided it would be great fun to jump on the beds.
