For the past couple of weeks the cats have been pointing themselves at the dishwasher nightly - even when it's not running.
Yesterday afternoon, the cute pink cat (she's mostly white, but she likes to think that she's pink) was parked there. I heard a "scraping" noise, so I went over. Snowflake goes "arrrrowww" - her version of a meow. I told her that Daddy would take a look at it when he gets home. She was happy and was amused elsewhere.
So, last night husband finds a hole in the concrete outside. We're like - "It's the mole!" Husband wanted to plug up the hole, but I needed to be sure that no mole babies were left behind. Not gonna get into it, but as an animal activist, I've heard the horror stories...
The mole, who has been named Pikachu, is often watched through the kitchen sliding glass door by the cats. In the past, strict instructions have been given to our bug guy (we have him for silverfish and a recent springtail invasion) NOT to harm any animals. That includes mice, chipmunks and of course, Pikachu.
So, tonight husband unscrewed the metal piece that leads to the stuff under the dishwasher. Well it was apparent that Pikachu had been under there. There were a few pieces of dried corn and sunflower seeds that were fed to the squirrels outside. No evidence of mole babies or anything else, though.
Husband plugged up the hole and the mess under the dishwasher was cleaned up.
Sorry, Pikachu, we love you, but you need to find a new home. Besides, if you had gotten in - I'm sure as much as the cats love you - well, it would not have been good.
