If you (Common Man, Common Man7, and now Avoid Bankruptc) repeat in registering a new ID, your ISP will be contacted. Internet abuse is a crime.

      I'm quoting this

Thomas Jefferson. The third president of the United States. A statesman, diplomat, architect, author, inventor and farmer. Widely acknowledged as a genius and the smartest of all United States presidents. A man who gave vision to this country as one of its founding forefathers and leader of this country.

Why do I bring up Mr. Jefferson? Because he was almost constantly in debt. Big debt. Mr. Jefferson filed several bankruptcies in his lifetime; and, his debt was huge in comparison to most individuals' bankruptcies today.

      Cheers

Oh, do let him/her continue to post. . . please.

Let this person post on this string only, for debate purposes. I would dearly love to see what he/she would do in my situation.

If they post outside this string, ban them again, but I am looking forward to gleaning new insights into my situation. It will be an interesting experience. And it might teach any of us or him/her a new perspective.

Consideration for the idea? I would love to debate this issue.

One string only, no flaming, and he/she not allowed to post elsewhere?

        best wishes,

        -dmc

Banned is banned again. Don't need a troll "poking the bear" for his jollies here.

To Banned, et.al. - since DMC is the only person here who inexplicably wants to trade ideas with you, the next time you set up a new identity for the forum, IM him with your private email and you two can talk until the cows come home. The rest of us aren't interested. Bye bye again for now.

That is how you define abuse... Not how courts in several countries for a few hundred years have.

Do you realize the BK laws protecting citizens were important enough to the founding fathers that it is in the Constitution?

The "my house costs 75k" means nothing without a context. When and where was it bought. I am pretty sure it wasn't in southern ca. (or pretty much any metro area) in the past several years.

Of all the people I have seen post on this board, may one or two were trying to find an easy way out. Most filed because there was no choice. Yes, there may have been some bad decisions along the way but then a major unexpected event put them over the edge (see 9/11 related job loss in my case)

I tried to work out settlement with the CC companies but at jacked up 30 percent interest and fees (that they would not budge on) it was mathematically impossible to pay them back. I could have sent them 100% of my income. Did I make some bad decisions. Yes. Was I backed into a corner even though I tried to pay back my debt. Yes.

It is not a coincindence that while the number of bk filings doubled over a 10 year period in the 90's, during that same period CC company profits TRIPLED.

Set him up with his own thread - Wade's World.

These self-styled "libertarians" can really be amusing. We can use a laugh.

Should I file bankruptcy if I lose all of my money in the stock market? Of course not.

Should I file bankruptcy if I lose all of my money gambling? Of course not.

I am trying to educate people so that they do not make mistakes or to help them work their own out of debt.

                    PS my house cost 75k.
The Bankruptcy code doesn't support this idea. If it did then the only dischargeable debt would be medical expenses.

Instead of maybe railing on the consumer, perhaps push for stricter lending policies. If it wasn't so easy to get credit cards, over half of Americans that file for bankcuptcy could avoid it.

This person reads the posts of people in dire circumstance that actually do move forward with BK.

Those are the folks that stay around, research, learn, ask questions, and chat.

This person does not see the people we counsel to find other ways. Because those people do not hang around and post,......... In that person's mind, those people do not exist.

BK is not the only resolution for financial issues.

And if you do not need to file, we will tell you so. Simple as that.

                        Oh, and Commonman/Avoid Bankrutpc/Banned,.............

Dire medical isn't the only reason people need to file.

                        You try loosing your job.

Extended period of unemployment where you continue to pay mortgage PLUS $1K/mo for medical insurance.

When you do get a new job, it's for lower pay, lessor benefits, in a new State requiring you to move your family.

Pay rent and a mortgage payments for 18 months. Spend all your savings. Cash out your retirement trying to pay all your bills as agreed.

You live thru that, then you've walked a mile in my shoes. Only then can we chat.

Until then,........... Stay off the computer while you're at work. I don't think your employer would appreciate knowing you're spamming internet Forums on Company time.

I have 5 kids 2 with a uncureable disease I have lupus kidney failure we have no family even before we had the medical issues to deal with we were in debt we are a young couple no family to buy us a car or help pay bills we done everything from scratch and because people tend to take advantage of people that are in bad situations we pay higher interest rates and got stuck with piece of crap cars that break down after a few months and try paying for a car that dont work and paying to fix it plus trying to get to and from every day while the car dont work plus people taking advantage and living on 15000.00 per year and raising 5 kids my husband had a job that paid 690 per week but when I got sick in bed for 8 months he was the only one around to take care of me and the kids and yet pay bills now he is self employeed and because I am sick and we have no insurance and we also have 2 kids going to dr. visits 3 times a week he misses alot of work so we only make 15,000 per year. We can not afford even the minimum on anything except ness. and that is hard. Now that I filed bk my homeowners ins canceled me so I had to find a new company and pay double the price that we paid before filing so there we go more people taking advantage Maybe you should talk to the people who take advantage of people with low income and if they stopped doping that then there would be less people in these kind of situations.
Sometimes life make you deal with ugly and hateful people ,just think of them as sand paper. They may scratch you and rub you the wrong way but eventually you end up smooth and polished and the sand paper becomes old and worn out.
