    Prayers for Virginia Tech Families

A horrible incident occurred at Virginia Tech University today.

In 2 separate locations on the campus, a dormitory and a Engineering Class Building, a person opened fire and killed a number of people. Possibly students and faculty.

Information is still being gathered and reported.

Lifting up heartfelt prayers for the victims, the survivors, families, friends, Faculty, and Staff of the Virginia Tech University.

Overrides everything, utter horror. No point in other Posts today, not a time to think of ourselves. Nightmarish. My son goes back to the Rabbinnical College in NJ tomorrow, my prayers go with him, I'll hug him more than ever now. You just don't know where things will hit.

After listening to the update on the news and hearing how many kids were dead, I called my son, even knowing that he was in class and simply told him that I loved him and hung up because I was crying. And I get shivers up my spine because he goes to Arkansas Tech. I keep thinking of all those parents, and that it could be me, sitting here not knowing if my child was dead or not.

All 3 of our kids' fannies were warming chairs at College today.

How fortunate we are every time ours go out and come home safely.

May the families of those lost today at Virginia Tech University be comforted by a Loving God. May they celebrate the lives of their children. And cherish many happy thoughts of the good times with those bright young people.

Damned lookin at it on TV makes me ill. I am sorry but in Dade or Broward any crime in the vicnity of a school, GUN OR NOT results in a lockdown as long as the person is on the loose in the area. For a place that even we, along with the rest of the Coutry sometimes decry as a third world armpit this place has a hell of alot more sense in dealing with disasters. I mean they clamp down bigtime here and you never hear them on the news congratulating and thanking each other.

I mean damned, one day after a TOTAL F'UP and these backwater yahoos are talking about professionalism and "made a good choice based on the information"? Good Lord, down here it's "suspect on the loose, armed, neighborhood cordoned off, Westpine Middle in lockdown" and that's fifteen frickin' minutes after the robbery, then later you here something like "the suspect was shot while wielding a knife at Police". If he robbed and they lockdown, the weapon is not even questioned, only the desperation. Well, I guess their lives are pretty much over at this point, they are all out of work. Sad, so sad, one bad decision, one piss poor security decision that should have been made not by any Dean but by the Police on Campus and 30 more people died.

Down here know one ever goes on TV and starts thanking and backslapping after a hurricane, they are to frikkin tired and worried about their own homes because everyone is affected. I remember mayor Alvarez last appearance during Wilma was to say simply in an exhausted voice "please stop standing on line for water, it's ok to drink, we don't want you on the street if you have water service".

I am sorry but the ass-covering from this backwater PD is sickening, they are in deep trouble, all of them and they deserve to be.

I sit here and ponder on WHY there wasn't an automatic lockdown on campus as soon as the boy shot the first students in the other building?????? Think of the lives that could have been saved, maybe!!!! They knew he was still on the loose - whoever he was...... so why wasn't a lockdown called on such a large college campus. Our schools here "lockdown" at the instant of a problem .... until it is resolved. Even the middleschools and grade schools do.

My heart hurts for the parents, families, friends of all those that died. Such a shock to all of them....... Not only are they greiving for their own childen, but also the children of friends, and for all the kids of the community.

It must be very hard for other students to grasp what has happended, to be there in the "thick of it", survive it, and now trying to deal with all of it. Many it will affect the rest of their lives, and how they "look at life"..... some will never get over it!! Many will NEVER FEEL SAFE AGAIN on campus and will always be looking over their shoulder. How can they put their minds to rest now?? After all they have been thru!!

I also feel sorry for the parents of this boy who commited this tragedy..... they are blameless, shocked, horrified, and probably in disblief that thier own son could commit such terror in one morning....... Did they see it coming, probably not?? How many parents would, if their child was already a "quiet child" or "quiet student"...?? The attitude of "not my son" will overlook and miss many a signal of problems that kids may be having "inside their mind and souls"....

The news say that other students, teaches, and counselors were "aware" that this young man had a "problem"....... why wasn't something done.... more than just saying "he needs help"!! His "writings" told that he had a problem......

Does counseling have to be COURT ORDERED in order to save lives in the future because of a distrubed student????

When a gun is purchased by a student - is there not a background check done??? In our state a 7 day waiting period exist, plus a background check! And believe me they do check your background - neighbors, etc.

I believe in our "right to bear arms" - for the right reasons...

I'm aware the age of this young man is not the age of a student, but a man.

It is very hard to control the actions of a man..... but if you are a "unstable woman" they will lock you up for a nervous breakdown, take your children, etc.

Surely this young man showed "many signs" that some noticed and many ignored, and his parents just assumed his behavior was "natural" for him....

What a shame that so many lost their lives and that a community was devisasated by the actions of one unstable young man...

Our society today "helps" create such students/men...... and then we ask "WHY"......

Both parents are forced to work to survive creating "latchkey kids" that have little supervision. Kids have many questions - and no one around or too busy to answer them. TV and video games "highlight" violence to the extreme. Even with small kids these days, the more violence, the better and more fun these games (videos) are..... Many parents are so busy they have no time to "notice" the content of the games. And often children confuse fiction with reality.... and the two intermix in their minds....

Hug your child today, call your student in college and let him/her know how much you love them and that they are on your mind today. Always let them know that you are "there for them" - no matter what!! Be thankful that your child is "safe" today......

A prayer sent up to heaven for each one that died,

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

                      Every person that was killed....

...and/or hurt, in this tradegedy, in my opinion, is one of God's chosen...in regards to whatever spirtuality they followed....I feel that things in the world are not quite right anymore....I feel there are more bad things to come that none of us can stop except by being good to ourselves & our fellow man.....We each have to put more good into the world....that may alter the bad....

My heart goes out to every parent & family member who has suffered....

As a parent, I just want to lock my sons up for the rest of their lives....but that of course, is unreal....I don't think we can stop destiny, but we can change it, if we believe in good.
