    E-filing of 2007 taxes??

has anyone sent theirs in this way?

It kind of freaks me out not to mail it in....(can't believe I pay bills online right?...LOL)...but I feel like it should be mailed...is there really a big time difference in when I'd get my refund by efiling rather than mail?

I don't know if there is a cut and dry answer to your question but I can relate my own experience for you. For 3 years we used a service to e-file our taxes, had the refund direct deposited into our account each time. Usually our refund posted to our account in exactly two weeks following the filing. We then went back to mailing our taxes (the service place closed and we didn't have a computer, or were familiar with other places to use), again direct deposited into our account each time, we receive our refund into our account about 3 1/2 weeks from the date we mailed it. We've been doing it this way for a few years now as it just saves us the money from e-filing and we only have to wait an extra week or so for it. I think the timeline of getting it faster actually has to do with direct depositing it, I know some people that have a check mailed back to them and it can take 5 weeks for them to get it.

We e-file every year and get our refund direct deopsited... it takes about 2 weeks from filing to get our refund.

Checks for income tax refunds are "cut" once a month..... the last week of the month and then mailed out. Direct deposits are done on a weekly basis.....

Filing e-file and direct deposit is really fast..... not much waiting period...

I love e-filing! Got our state refund deposited in our account a week to the day of filing, and federal in 11 days...very sweet!

I e-fie but take the check in the mail option. I think there are additional fees involved w/ direct deposit. I did it one year and decided I would rather wait. I got my state almost right away, and I got my Fed in about 3 weeks.

I have used e-filing for the past 4 years and my refund has been direct-deposited into my bank account within 2 weeks. I always print out a copy of my return for my files, of course, and also the confirmation number(s). I also visit the IRS website while awaiting my refund to check on the status, and it always tells me exactly what is happening and also, the exact date when it is going to be deposited. It has never failed me yet.

I've been e-filing for years, and I usually get my direct deposit in less than 2 weeks. A friend of mine just got his in about 10 days!
I believe it to be totally safe. What you have to realize is that doing banking etc. on the net is pretty much the same way banks do it. The encryption is strong. As long as you have an updated browser (no more than a few years old that supports the latest encryption) you are not risking anything in my opinion. I do ALL my banking on the net and bill payments and shopping for many things. Been doing it for years. Never had any problem except once someone used my info to bill me for something I didn't order. I reported it to the card co. and that was that.
