Might as well be fit as well as broke!

okay...here's my thought for the day....

Since I'm basically now really broke, after paying the trustee to keep the 4Runner...and it's the 1st of February...it's time to continue the most necessary New Year's resolution, drop the remaining 15lbs that won't come off by diet alone.

I'm not heavy by any means ( 5'5" and 130) but I can pinch that inch everywhere I never used to....this is due to snacking all day...I lost 15lbs slow as can be since June and did not give up the booze but did cut out the soda, bread, smoking...to about 7 cigs a day...used to be a long distance runner so I know I still have "it" in me....

Being broke means food shopping is for the most nutrional goods...i.e. I switched to yogurt & grapenuts plus a banana for breakfast...weeks ago...and even cutting my dinner in half keeps me at 130 w/o exercise...(yes, must be the booze placeholding).....so...

I have switched to having slimfast optima for breakfast & lunch and we are now moving on to the tuna dinner diet due to low funds in the checking account....and since that is occuring....

I am going over to the gym which is about 2 blocks from my home & seeing what kind of deal I can work... I need to exercise early before work (think 5 a.m. I think membership is about $40/month....cutting out cigarettes & $5/a day for lunch translates into gym membership & hopefully 1,500 calories a week less....

I have to drop this weight, it has held on too long! My boyfriend, who is a "sleep eater" eats everything in the fridge that is sweet or sugary...so I will only have tuna & fruit available & see if that tricks him (in the middle of the night, his eyes are shut anyhow....lol....

    Any thoughts?

Sounds great! My only thought would be careful what you sign at the gym. Make sure they are truly a month to month type not a membership contract. Unless you feel you can take on the obligation of paying every month for an extended period of time (like a year).

Good luck on those last 15 lbs!! You'll do great!

Sounds like you are setting the example for the rest of us...or at least myself that made a promise to do just that and it got lost along the way of "too much going on with the bankruptcy". Seriously though it is a good plan and a good idea, good luck to ya!

Thank you for the encouragement, I need it!!!

I finally got someone on the phone at the gym and they said, 1 year membership@ $50/month....ok...maybe I need to rethink myself...I don't want to be locked in and I could put that $50 into free weights and an exercise ball for home....my exercise room at my apt complex has an epelyptical machine & treadmill....and that machine you sit in, push with your legs that works your behind.....they say it's not open till 10 a.m. but you know what I have a key...so what the hey......I'll try going over there tomorrow morning early as in....5:45 a.m. I drive my boyfriend to work every morning at 6:45 and I know I need an hour to do my thing.....

I don't do well working out after work....before work is great 'cause you just do it & you have the rest of the day in front of you....

I got a raise in pay..... .65/hour and I don't want to waste it!

            Thank you!!!

The thing is, exercise is a great stress reducer....but I guess I'll start at the apartment gym...I can't deal with laying $50/month at this point...

Congrats & as it's said, Rome wasn't built in a day......I smoke about 6 cigs a day...two on the way to work & two on the way home & 2 at home....

I have been going to be earlier so that I wake up earlier & am rested so that I can start my morning workouts...(it's only 45 when I wake up & I am not getting out of bed for anything at 5:30 am when it's 45 in Florida)...

I am drinking the slim fast for breakfast & lunch & having a smaller portioned dinner at the moment...

The gym was tooo expensive & they wanted a year contract...no way...my apt has a gym...I'm just spoiled but can't afford to be soo spoiled at the moment that I will throw away my hard earned .65 and hour raise that I received last week....
