I am a 40+ female, don't feel it, and think very young. I am a new college student. My classes are with 18 to 60 year olds. I am studying to be a nurse, if I can pass these darn classes! I want 2 things: a stable income and the ability to help people in their time of need. I have 3 young sons 7-11. They are the light of my life. And it is very difficult right now as I work about 30 hours and attend school full time. Husband had a heart attack at 40, so his personality has changed dramatically and we just do not get along as well as we should. All you men out there, make sure you get your cholesteral checked. My DH's was through the roof, he was a runner and was not overweight, and still managed to have a massive HA. I think the only reason he survived was that he was in good shape. I just wish his personality would change back. My father said it is because of lack of Oxygen to the brain. Said he has seen it in many of his friends in their 60's and 70's. I am on here quite a bit, as I know how terrified I was during BK. I thought it was the end of my life. I never imagined it. If I can help one person through this nightmare then I have accomplished my mission.
You are a very caring group of people out there!

I'm 45, female and from NC. I've been married for 19 years (almost 20 soon) and we have 2 wonderful teenage girls. Our oldest Jessica is 19, lives at home and goes to community college. She also holds down a part-time job to help out with school books and her spending money. This is her last year at the community college then will be transferring to UNCC next year and is majoring in teaching. She has a boyfriend of 2 years and they plan on marriage once she graduates. My youngest is 17 and a junior in high school. She dates someone different every 2 weeks or so Never a steady boyfriend for her! Both of my girls are totally different from one another and they keep things interesting around here with never a dull moment! We live in a small town thats very big on football! Our high school football team has been the division champs for 5 years and don't plan on giving that title up anytime soon (hope to make state champs this year ) We're also in the middle of Nascar country and thats a biggie too! I'm a office manager for a painting company here that paints most of the nascar trailers and tractors.
Both of our girls are very involved in our church youth group and they are so much more dedicated to the Lord then I ever was at their age. I'm so very proud of them In this day and time, every day gets harder and harder, especially going throught our bk, but the ppl on this forum brings me so much comfort. Thank you so much for that!9/28/06: Filed Chapter 7

My dad had a massive HA when he was about 51, many years ago....he was fit as a fiddle.....thin, active~ his body just massivly produced the bad cholesterol.....so sometimes it is just that.....and my dad's personality changed dramatically after his HA .... I know what you mean, it broke all of our hearts~ sometimes it's just getting used to the meds they put them on....and it does have to do with oxygen thing as well...it also (for my dad anyway) upsets their personality especially when they are very independant people....strong willed, take charge kind of people....it made my dad realize how HUMAN he really was~ he was scared to death after that happened, because he felt good.....and was a very proud man....then this took him down, hard....it just messes with their idea of "strength"....may not be what your husband is going through~ but men respond very differently to this sort of thing than we do~ it's hard for some men to come around and deal with all of the emotions that they are having with this.....they know their guards are down, mostly because they have no choice, but they feel like they lose the strong hold......and they also try to deal with the emotion of "I almost or could have died from this, but I'm still here..." emotion~ so, my mother walked around on egg shells as did we all......and a little bit of that's okay~ but that led to other issues.....~
I feel for you, my prayers are with you and your family~
I'm glad people like you are here for us to talk with about BK.....it sure feels good to be able to help others and say..."hey, I've been where you are going".......
Thanks!! Christina aka(CAB)

Hey InLimbo~ We are the same age, and our kiddos are almost the same ages~ It's great that your kids are involved with church youth....mine were both very active~ we have slacked off a lot here in a years time...trouble at church, and then we just lost interest....could not focus, hope to get that back very soon....it's hard~
One of my best friends just moved to NC a few years ago~ she loves it, I miss her~
BK is the hardest thing that I've had to do in my life....and i'm just getting started~it's really scary....especially looking at the payments they are showing us, but I guess we'll make it~ who knows~
I'm glad that you are here~
Blessings to you and your family~
