I have been paying towards a Ch13 for 30 months and may be getting laid off with a severance. Will I have to turn over the severance to the BK courts?

In this particular case you should immediately contact your attorney. I had a similar issue and immediately contacted the trustee. You may be able to convert to a Chapter 7. You may be able to reduce your Chapter 13 payment. These need to be discussed with your attorney.
