I agree, it's such an illusion. I had 5 cards with BOA, and had been steadily paying on all my cards. One day at a checkout I came up declined. Called them and found out all 5 of my cards had been closed. This triggered my other banks cards (about 12 of them) to slash my limits to $200 above the balances, up my interest to 29.9% and triple my minimum payments.

It really doesn't take much, a couple of family emergencies, trying to keep up a struggling business, etc. until that "house of cards" crashes.
