If you don't get a refund, contact the state bar association of FL. AT the end of the day, no matter what the fee agreement states, attorneys have to DO something to earn fees and the amount has to be reasonable. The firm will be entitled to keep a small retaining amount for the overhead involved in opening and keeping your file and for lost opportunity. But since the firm cannot even provide the service for which it contracted, keep pushing for a full refund.

Giving them some time is not unreasonable, but more like 3 weeks, (4-6 is excessive).

THANK GOD you found out now. No kidding. What a worse nightmare if you had gone forward and let these dummies botch your case.

Nothing makes me madder than bad lawyers. Now you have the opportunity to get out there and find a good one.

A series of "missteps" and "lack of diligence" by a lawyer practicing with Kaufman, Englett and Lynd has prompted a United States Bankruptcy judge to bar the firm and the lawyer from practicing in Bankruptcy Court in the Middle District of Florida until further notice.

Not too surprising, but the firm will not fire the attorney whose actions caused a federal judge to ban the law firm from practicing in bankruptcy court in Central Florida.

i'm just thinking, since some of us were in the same court, just what the heck this firm did to tick Judge Briskman off this much. it just couldn't have been the one motion. and wow, i'm so glad we didn't have them!!

They are still advertising... I just saw the commercial today. Guess there is nothing wrong with that. I just find it odd that they need to stop bringing in the business for awhile while they reorganize and fix their issues they obviously have.

I will be getting a refund of what I had paid minus my retainer money. I'm ok with that b/c we did exchange quite a few emails.

Good news, I really couldn't see them defending retaining a large portion of fees.
