Tobee43, what an important post. This is exactly what happens, and has happened, throughout history. Whether there is any action at this point that can reverse the corrupt acts of these highly-placed white-collar criminals who rape and pillage the rest of us is the question. Apparently they are so entrenched and in control of, not just this country's economy, but the the world's, that revolutions, tyranny and dictatorship are the only things that will change it. Everyone will suffer tremendously in the ages to come if something is not done soon to return to some semblance of true justice, but I am not optimistic.

The words of another Nobel economist in the forum 'nakedcapitalism.com' ring true:

"...we cannot solve the economic crisis unless we throw the criminals who committed fraud in jail. And Nobel prize winning economist George Akerlof has demonstrated that failure to punish white collar criminals – and instead bailing them out- creates incentives for more economic crimes and further destruction of the economy in the future...Nobel prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz just agreed. As Stiglitz told Yahoo’s Daily Finance on October 20th:
This is a really important point to understand from the point of view of our society. The legal system is supposed to be the codification of our norms and beliefs, things that we need to make our system work. If the legal system is seen as exploitative, then confidence in our whole system starts eroding. And that’s really the problem that’s going on."

you know jjim120, i just don't get it...this lack of accountability...this lack of having the banking industry take responsibility for what they did? have we become such a corrupt society? i suppose had this happened in any other country we'd be on the streets with protests. not that that would do any good anyway.

personally speaking, i have never in my lifetime experienced such a hands off, hiding under the table, administration running this country...i'm NOT taking a political viewpoint on this, it just is what it is. i suppose oddly enough, i just want a "leader" to let me it's ok...silly me! but now, since the banks have been brought and sold, watch, nothing will happen, there will be no change since the banks have all the money and we all know who wrote and handed them the check. they are ALL white collar criminals as far as i'm concerned.

      this is so disheartening.

        tobee, thanks for posting this.
i have been searching for the past year for some way to try to make our voices heard. and it has been exhausting, to say the least. Very recently, I have been running across things like this:
        http://www.areyoumadenoughyet.com/funnel_events/6430

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

That first one, areyoumadenoughyet.com, I have spent some time to check out. I am seriously considering joining it in order to try to be part of this. It cost $3k, but it could be well worth it. Has anyone else looked into this?

I am mad enough, but this process doesn't fit for my situation. It does look as if its just another legal scam to line the pockets of lawyers. BTW, one of my 'sources' told me today that the bank foreclosure lawyer on our commercial project admitted that the false allegations used to take us down that we were prevented from appearing in court to defend were a bunch of crap. However, he also reported that the lawyer was very blase about it, saying that he was sure that we had done something wrong or the allegations wouldn't have been made in the first place, so it didn't really make any difference.

There are definitely groups that understand all this and that want to try to do something about it. The banks know that without a boatload of money ie attorneys, the general population will keep rolling over and taking all the abuse. It seems there are groups that want to have justice served, and it will take money to do so, no doubt. We cannot let the banks and the regulators get away with this! Somehow we need to take some steps toward letting them know we will not tolerate this any longer.

Jim, I am not sure I am following...YOUR lawyer was blase? Why were false allegations kept from being used? I guess I am not familiar with your situation.

This could very well be the case with this group, and all other groups that are trying to get something done. There is no way of knowing unless we at least try. For sure, there is no way that individuals could fight alone, as it would take hundreds of thousands of dollars to do so. I am hoping that a couple more from this forum will take the time to call the number on that site and request more information like I did. I am still undecided, because I am not made of cash (obviously) and there are some things in their contract that raise questions for me and I am hoping to have those questions answered.

I really think it is a good time to try to be part of one of these grass roots organizations that wants to take this to the Supreme Court level. If the cases go to jury trial (that is the goal), then the plaintiffs will get awarded treble, meaning triple the cost of their original mortgage notes, plus potential punitive damages. I know it is a gamble, but if there is one thing I have learned this past ten years, it is that everything is a crap shoot! I am just tired of the bankers and the ever-so-proprietary FICO and the whole system setting the worker bees up to LOSE, and leaving us holding the bag for their bad investments, along with our own. IT IS RIDICULOUS.

                            Really?? The Supreme Court??

Which is part of the same aristocracy that got us into this mess? You really think Scalia, Thomas and co give a hoot about us?

I know! So crazy! Such a mess. But if we don't TRY, then what? I know they have us where they have wanted us, but seriously, how much more of this can we AFFORD???? Obviously, we are all broke, and there is only so much more we could be expected to foot the bill for. THERE IS NO MORE MONEY IN THE MIDDLE CLASS LEFT TO TAKE. So much corruption, so little time. But if we do nothing, then what?

                                Definitely.

I just can't believe the total apathy of the population... someone before mentioned gas.

Every time we fill the tank THEY steal $15 from our pocket. There is NO reason for the price of oil to be this high except greed, speculation and the futures market.

Please, please, nobody PLEASE, post drivel about drilling... we don't even have room to put the oil we've already drilled...

The Nikkei is up 1.85% this morning! Do I really have to say anything else to point out how stupid the markets are getting? Japan imports over 5M barrels of oil per day – they produce 6,000…
