Great post! Thanks. So many people don't understand history and economics. Too bad Oprah and her staff were able to sell Obama to the lazy American public, stuck to ipods, xbox, reality shows, David Letterman and seeking pleasure. Wake up and understand Hollywood is fake. China is where we were 100 years ago (and where England and France were). Now we are going to be France and China will be the United State. You voted for him...sorry

Who understands history and politics? Surely not me! The politicians both use the expression 'trillion' but never put the expression in terms we understand. If we go to the Whitehouse website and look for the 2007 or 2008 budget we can see that less then 1.3 trillion is collected from personal inome tax. Doesn't sound good does it? If we go to the CIA website we find the country has a gross national product (like how much we make as a country) and that is only 13.8 trillion dollars. Doesn't sound very good does it?
Now ask yourself why the various politicians don't relate willingly these numbers and facts to us?Golden Jubilee was a year-long celebration held every 50 years in which all bondmen were freed, mortgaged lands were restored to the original owners, and land was left fallow: Lev. 25:8-17

We are here because our expenses are over our means with no way to change it. Today our government is bankrupt and now getting worse. How can we fix it by spending trillions more? It would be like...well honey, we are bankrupt...we cannot pay our bills. Lets borrow some more money from BOA (China) and see if we can stimulate our house buget. If we fix our side walks, and drive ways, put in new windows and landscape our home, we will get out of our mess since our house will be worth more. Sounds funny huh? We all need to realize we and our county is broke. We are printing money like crazy and we better get ready for the sh*t to hit the fan. You think it is bad now...just wait. Better get your guns and protect your food when it all comes crashing down... I don't think Dr. Phil or Ophra will be able to helpl us then.

I've been saying it all along, we are going to see bad times like no other. When you go out in the street on any given day and see all the lawlessness that is happening and corruption and greed......a person's gotta scratch their head and say this has to come to an end at some point.....some point is almost here..."I'm old enough to know better, but too young to care"

I always said anyone that thought he was going to bring change was fooling themselves.
Sure he'll change some methodology but the undercurrent will remain the same.
Keep in mind FDR is the one that banned citizens from owning gold. He knew that until he could get the dollar off the gold standard he couldn't inflate it. So that's what he did. If there had been no WWII, FDR would not have been president for a third term. He was immensely unpopular in the late 30s due to his economic and social policies. It was only his promise to keep the United States out of the war in Europe that got him reelected. (The ban was lifted in a later year after FDR died).May 31st, 2007: Petition Filed by my lawyer

In high school, my Government teacher taught that historic governments fail almost always at the 200 year mark, which we can still consider ourselves within, as it's an estimate in the grand scheme of things.
However, here's to hoping Obama and his selection of experts are more knowledgable about the economy and solution than Gerald the Scot (?) or the whole heap of laypeople in this post without much of a financial track record.

This crisis could work to our advantage. It seems we are experiencing in some areas deflation such as in homes which I think will be followed by runaway inflation. If our bills (credit cards) are eliminated thru bankrupty, and then our homes might get paid for by the side affects of runaway inflation.Golden Jubilee was a year-long celebration held every 50 years in which all bondmen were freed, mortgaged lands were restored to the original owners, and land was left fallow: Lev. 25:8-17

You are so right but this time around the so called "lazy American people" didn't have a whole lotta choice for president.
For me this thing was over once Obama and McCain both won their party's nomination. I knew we all lost then months before the election. The essence of freedom is the proper limitation of Government

I appreciate and condone public discourse, especially on politics, but before we hang our new President out to dry in his second week of office, why don't we give the guy a chance?
There are very few people in this country who would have voluntarily stepped into the mess that our new President has inheritated and pledged the next 4-8 years of their life to at least try and fix it.
Yes, I am a bed wetting liberal. But I support the office of President and respect any citizen who commits their life to that office, whatever choices they make , not matter the party affiliation.
Our former administration made a lot of mistakes, and President Obama may do the same as well, but the choice was made by the voices of the citizenry of our country.
Instead of focusing negative energy on discrediting the new President, how about taking that energy and applying it to solutions for the econmy and the mess we are in.
Email Congress and the President about changes that should be made to BK laws, forclosure issues, health care issues, anything. Let your representives either at the local, state or national level know how you feel and, give them ideas to fix the problems.
For example, I personally sent many emails to the various levels of govt about the foreclosure issue and the many empty homes that were foreclosed in my area. Instead of providing Section 8 vouchers to needy people, change the subsidy to a homeownership program. There are condos in my area selling for around 100,000.00. If the Housing Authority spent the same amount of money in subsidies towards a mortgage payment towards these properties, with the former renter picking up the deficiency, hundreds of homes would be taken off the "foreclosure rolls", the former needy renters would build equity, and the local economy would benefit from fewer forclosed homes sitting empty and dragging property values even lower, banks would make more money, and there could be a stipulation in the contract with HUD that gave title back to the HA if the former renters defaulted. The former renters would have more of an incentive to work or keep their jobs as homeownership is now in the line. The HA would not be spending any extra money out of their budget, as the subsidy would remain the same, since many mortgage payments for these foreclosed homes are below rents in the area. There could even be a requirement for a little "sweat equity" similar to Habitat for Humanity, that the new homeowners would have to provide to be able to get into a home.
So that was my idea, and I sent a detailed email to many govt agencies about it. Will they act on it? Who knows? But it doesn't hurt to try, and if we all put our collective heads out there to work on a solution, who knows what may happen. Even the simplest of men/women can have a phenomenal idea that can change the world!
It may feel good to rant, but I tell you it feels better to work towards a solutuion that can help everyone.

If we (on this site) have learned anything...you really can't spend more money than you have, to right a ship. Our "leaders"...should know this before we do.

Credo Mutwa on Barack Obama
Credo Mutwa, the Zulu shaman, or sanusi, has written a poem to express his thoughts on what he sees as the true nature of Barack Obama and the agenda for Africa and the world that he represents.
An actor walks upon the floodlit stage of life
wearing a mask of an angel beneath a demon's gown.
Pretence smiles upon the crowded hall of life
holding out hope as bright as it is false.
Son of a woman in whose veins flows the blood
of ancient Ireland and dark Africa's plains.
You are Obama, nick-named the standing king
You are Barack, oh, son born to deceive
The suffering hoards of Africa look up to you,
See a black saviour where nought but a Judas strides.
An entrapper of nations, bringer of dismal war
Behind the robes and the nylon wings of hope
Oh, may those who look upon you, see you as you are.
May those who hope in you behold you as you be
A prince deceitful to bring down Africa's shrines
A siren who leads Africa's ships onto rocks of obliteration.
Your rule my lord will not be one of peace
Your reign my king will not be one of smiles
Even as we speak in caves both dark and dank
Enraged fanatics plot your dark demise
They will put around your head a bloodwet martyr's crown.
Oh black Kennedy following the one before
May God forgive thee and thy fiery spouse
As you walk in silence from the stage of life
Barack Obama, blessed son, Oh standing king.

That's the way 'hope' is employed by the dastardly and devious - take the crap we are giving you now in the 'hope' that things will get better (but we know they won't). Barack Obama is a purveyor of 'hope' because his masters want the people to accept what they are given now in the hope that good times will come.
Just do what we demand, oops, sorry, Barack demands, and in return he'll inspire you to hope that it is all leading to the Promised Land. It isn't, but, by the time you realise that, it's too late.
What terrifies the manipulators is that people will abandon hope, as a future, sometime-never projection, and start to demand fairness, justice and freedom now. To avoid this nightmare they need to keep those desires as something to aspire to, not to actually have. Thus, their man, Obama, sells 'hope' as a diversion technique, a holding position, to keep the masses from truly rebelling.
We have no job, no food on the table and our home has been foreclosed, but at least we have 'hope'. Phew, thank goodness for that.
'I'm hungry, mum, can I have some hope, please?'
'I'm so sorry, darling, you can't have hope today, only tomorrow - hope is always tomorrow.'
'So will I eat tomorrow, mum?'
'We can hope so now, dear, but when we get to tomorrow, we can only hope it's the next day.'
On and on it goes. That's how 'hope' works. Or rather doesn't.Last edited by lrprn; 01-27-2009, 11:36 AM. Reason: photos deleted by moderator - saving server space :)
