This is no different than the existing NORAD agreement with Canada. It's an extension of NAFTA. People are speculating -- read, making the leap -- to a new currency.

Again, I love a good conspiracy, but I wouldn't attach my cart to this horse.

I bet people in Europe thought that the Euro and the creation of the European Union was just a "conspiracy theory" in the early 1990's..

The financial crisis was never a conspiracy theory. I saw it quite plainly as did a lot of other folks. I actually saw the mortgage issue back in 2003 when the Banks were dolling out "interest-only" ARM mortgages and giving them to people with a 51% DTI. And, doing so on $500K+ homes.

It was obvious. That doesn't make that a conspiracy.

And as for the European Union... I lived in London in the 90's and I didn't think that was a conspiracy either. that was a very above board Union. What in the word does the United States need a Union (which we already have one, by the way) with Canada and Mexico? We already call that NAFTA... LOL.

Again, I do love a good conspiracy, but this one is built on lies and someone out printing their own currency? Give me a break. Of course, I use the plain definition of conspiracy. I think most people think that any change is conspiracy, because they weren't involved in the decision.

I think a lot of people who cannot handle reality or live in a rose colored world think everything bad or wrong is a conspiracy theory, until of course their fingers get chooped off by the fan blades & their own blood goes flying all over the place.

there are people right here on this board using the conspiracy theory excuse just a year ago. we are going on recession for almost two years & people cant face it then, they cant face it now.

while the wise people started preparing & have their lamps trimmed with plenty of oil, just in case.

Again, I'll keep saying it... I love a good conspiracy.

However, I will not call everything I don't like, a conspiracy. I don't personally think that everyone is out to get me. When something is obvious and right in front of me... I call it like it is.

I just think we use the term conspiracy too much these days to imply that something illegal happened (because, for it to be a conspiracy, it has to be illegal).

The housing crisis was caused by laws on the books. While there was some predatory lending going on -- and I haven't heard of one successful prosecution on predatory lending -- the crisis was created by the market conditions created by an unregulated sub-industry. This was the highly collaterized asset-backed securities... which, oddly, not even Henry Paulsen can price.

Corollary, Predatory lending is not a crime.

Unfortunately, that doesn't make it a conspiracy. It just makes it that some very greedy people got rich... and on the flip side, got homes that they couldn't afford.

I just want us all to be careful when we utter the word conspiracy. It has a particular meaning. Just because some folks took advantage of a system designed and propped-up by the government, doesn't make it a conspiracy.

It's just a bunch of opportunists. The guy printing Ameros... an opportunist... not a co-conspirator.

That's my $0.02 and spend it as you may.

Conspiracy folks think everything is a conspiracy. The financial meltdown was obvious to most financial experts, only the timing was in question.

That is all a good post. I just want to comment on this one part. I think it is an overused term as well & some people may be doing that because they simply do not like or disagree with the hypothesis. The government and hiding alien space ship crashes comes to mind. Some people fear those kinds of things so to attempt to prove them wrong they just call it a conspiracy theory to try and make the person look bad. It can become more of a strawman attempt instead of dealing with the facts.

Even through the Bible it talks about people conspiring to do evil. At the same time I have to agree with you because not everything that people conspire is evil.
I also think people simply want explanations for the facts & there is nothing wrong with trying to explain how, why & when as long as everyone realizes it is only a theory until proven true or false. This is what makes science & discovery such a great thing.

I kind of view conspiracy theory as an odd science and some of them are interesting. When people can't prove the hypothesis right but they also can't prove it wrong, then the theory remains on the table as a valid theory, but only a theory. The partyline is a good example since we do know how crooked most of them are. Proving it & disproving is another thing.

It is intersting how the term came to be & also how it flows through science, religion, politics and all sorts of unexplained mysteries. It is probably something that would have been considered taboo 40 years ago.

This is what I think...the networks and governments fear the most - that one man free, expressing his own thoughts and point of view, might somehow inspire others to think for themselves and listen to that voice of reason inside them, and then perhaps, one by one we will awaken from this dream of lies and illusions that the world, the governments and their propaganda arm, the mainstream media, feeds us continuously over 52 channels, 24 hours a day.

What I realised was that they don't want the people to be awake. The elite ruling class wants us asleep so we'll remain a docile, apathetic herd of passive consumers and non-participants in the true agendas of our governments, which is to keep us separate and present an image of a world filled with unresolvable problems, that they, and only they, might somewhere, in the never-arriving future, may be able to solve. Just stay asleep, America. Keep watching television.

I love talking about the Kennedy assasination. The reason I do is because I'm fascinated by it. I'm fascinated that our government could lie to us so blatantly, so obviously for so long, and we do absolutely nothing about it. I think that's interesting in what is ostensibly a democracy. Sarcasm - come on in. People say "Bill, quit talking about Kennedy man. It was a long time ago, just let it go, alright? It's a long time ago, just forget it." I'm like, alright, then don't bring up Jesus to me. As long as we're talking shelf life here...

Go back to bed, America, your government has figured out how it all transpired. Go back to bed America, your goverment is in control. Here, here's American Gladiators. Watch this, shut up, go back to bed America, here is American Gladiators, here is 56 channels of it! Watch these pituitary retards bang their f****** skulls together and congratulate you on the living in the land of freedom. Here you go America - you are free to do what well tell you! You are free to do what we tell you!
