unemployed or not?

I am filing bk in August. I am a teacher and since my contract for the school year ends in June and I don't sign another one until September, would I be considered unemployed at the time I file? My lawyer said technically yes, but I am unsure? What do you think?

Are you Union? If so, talk to your union about it.

Does it really matter, is there a reason you need to be considered unemployed. Most teachers I know qualify for Chapter 7 anyway?

Well, yes...I guess it is no secret that we don't make six figures (so to speak) I am relocating after this school year (my husband changing jobs) so I am unsure whether or not I will have a job. I also think it may look better if any creditors object to my discharge (due to cash advances). Do you think it would even matter to them?

Ahh, if you are relocating, then I would probably agree with your attorney that you would be unemployed if you filed BK after your current contract expires but before you sign the new one.
