If I file, will I lose my car?

We have to cars, both with loans ... one is Santander and one is a private credit union. I'm not sure which chapter we will file (7 or 13) ... hoping for 7, but may get stuck with 13. What will happen with our cars?

It depends on how much equity you have, what the exemptions are in your state, and what the smartest thing for you to do in your particular circumstances are. Can you give a little more info? The credit union one could def be a problem due to cross-collaterization.
