Does anyone know whether or not a creditor can sue you in the state of oregon over a deficiency balance after an auto repo? I searched repo laws online, any many sites say that in Oregon you cannot be sued in a court if the deficiency is less than $2500. I can't determine where they are getting that statement. I'm not sure where that comes up in the oregon revised statutes. Any help or even wild guesses would be appreciated. I do know that in many states you cannot be sued for a repo deficiency. I'm hoping to clarify this for Oregon. Thanks.

the only reason i'm asking is i know that oregon is a state where deficiency judgments are permitted with foreclosures....so i would think it would be the same for any other secured item...such as an auto...however, those laws vary from state to state .....and the situation would be governed by state law... tree i would check with your state consumer protection office to learn what the laws are in your state.8/4/2008 MAKE SURE AND VISIT Tobee's Blogs! http://www.bkforum.com/blog.php?32727-tobee43 and all are welcome to bk forum's Florida State Questions and Answers on BK http://www.bkforum.com/group.php?groupid=9
