When will NFCU pick up my vehicle?

I was ch7 discharged on 4/2010. I stopped making payments on this vehicle back in Oct 2009. I havent received any notifications from them yet. Am I supposed to call them to come and get it. Or will they eventually come and get it. Or maybe they forgot about it

Anyone have past experience dealing with the beloved NFCU?

Im interested in knowing the answer to your question as well. Ive stopped paying on my NFCU financed vehicle as of May so Im wondering how long before they start looking for me.

I am totally surprised they havent even contacted me. I guess they might be backed up. I even had to call them for another matter and they went over the accounts that were discharged. I'll keep you posted whenever they come knocking.

My first post gets to be about NFCU, yay. I had a car that should have got repossessed by NFCU, when I knew I was filing I gave them a call. Now, every case is different, but this is what they told me. If the car is equal to or lesser than the "blue book" value which isn't very high. It is more expensive for them to come and get the vehicle. They told me that I could leave it on the side of the road for all they care. Now, since my name is on the papers for the vehicle, that isn't very practical. Or, they told me that once everything is finalized, I can call them back and they can either give me the title. Or, I could "purchase" the title at a highly discounted rate. Give them a call, see what they tell you.

Just an update...NFCU finally came to pick up my/their truck. They must've came late at night or early in the morning. Didnt even know it was gone until I was taking out the trash. So lets see....I stopped paying them in Oct 2009, discharged April 2010, and they finally came to get it on 6/21/10. About 8 months it took them. Oh well...time to turn the page for the next chapter in my financial situation. I will surely miss my truck, but I was able to get one last road trip to Florida. Good bye for now..

@CanBurn- I doubt NFCU wouldve done that for me. My truck's value was really upside down. And I BK'd 2 credit cards. I owed them almost $60k...my lawyer told me they wont work with me on the vehicle if I owe them money. Keep us posted on how you make out with your vehicle. Im curious to see if they will "give" you the title.

another update...I went to pick up my tags at the Repo place. I asked they guy what happens now with the vehicle. He says nothing can be done for 10 days and NFCU will notify me of my intentions. If I do nothing, the vehicle will go to auction. Now I'm considering try to find the auction and see if I can buy it from there. But I'm thinking these are "dealer only" auctions. Anyone know?

NFCU advises me to go sell 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have an update as well. Im at 58 days past and the wife went and leased a new Civic so we have a 2nd vehicle and now I am ready to get rid of the 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee ($240 vs $600). I called and told the lady in collections (very nice girl) that I wanted to turn it in and she asked "You want to do a voluntary reposession?" I said yes and she advised me of the storage fees and the fees of picking it up. Then she looked it up and said they would sell it for $16k and I owe $30k on it. She said "if you sell it you'll get around $23k". Then she dropped this bomb, "You should go take it up to Carmax and sell it. Then we will turn the negative balance into a personal loan". I was shocked

So this week Im going up to Carmax to get the quote. She said to call them with the quote and they will get it approved then I can complete the sale. Well that will help me avoid having a repo on my record before the upcoming BK. That will save my scores somewhat.

JoJo- have you filed for BK yet? NFCU played this game with me as well. I did not want to do a personal loan for the difference of the price sold and amount owed to them. Once you file BK NFCU cant touch the vehicle for some time. if you go the personal loan route, are you going to BK that loan? If not youre going to be paying for something that you wont have anymore. And if youre going to file BK then I dont see the point. I filed Ch7, so maybe my situation is different. But good luck anyway and keep us posted.

I have not filed BK yet and actually wont until Feb 2011. The reason I figured it would be better to do the sale then the personal loan is because Ive heard your credit is higher after the discharge if you don't also have a repo on there. Plus it makes getting another vehicle much easier.
