    title to car/collateral

I used my paid off car for collateral for a private loan. As I was getting stuff gathered for the bankruptcy, I found the title to my car. The lenders do not have the title. Could this stop them from repossessing my car?

Check your registration for a lien or call the DOL and ask if there is a lien on the vehicle. They can perfect a lien without you turning in your title even though they require it most the time.

It will help if the repo man comes a knocking. All you would have to do is call the police, and the repo man might have the papers to repo, but as long as you have a clear slip, the police will tell him to put the car down because you provided papers showing legal ownership..

If the repo man takes the car without you there, go to his impound lot with the police and get the car back.

But, they'll come back with a title w/lien recorded on it, so you'll have to surrender it
