    Anniversary of sorts

Sorry I haven't been on here much - - this board still gives me fits logging me out every 2 minutes, and it kinda takes the fun out of it, but wanted to offer an update. At some point, I crossed the half way point in my Chapter 13. I wasn't paying attention when it happened, but I just realized I am in month 30 of 55.

I also lost count of how many modifications I've done, but a few. Four? Maybe 5? And one of those with a Motion for an Expedited Hearing, which was granted. Of course, the Trustee's office always generates objections, but we have been able to dispense with them efficiently. No complaints, and relatively few hiccups.

I wish I could say that being in the second half feels good, but honestly, I think I am more on edge now than in the beginning. I sure would hate for anything to happen to screw this up now with all that work and money into this thing. But... So far, so good.

Thanks. I hope it was somewhat helpful. Seems to me that if you are Pro Se in a successful Ch 13, having demonstrated a certain level of responsibility and competency, and don't vex the court too much, that they should allow electronic filing on CM/ECF and payments to the Trustee via automatic bill pay lol. Oh well! Onward!

I can't wait to read about your Pro Se Chapter 13 discharge! It will be the party of a lifetime. I'm sure 'Hub can whip up several dozen hamsters to perform a Broadway-quality production for you!

Thanks guys. Actually... I am in month 30 of 53 of 55. I know that confuses. In one of my modifications, I had requested a moratorium on two payments, so I am making 53 payments over 55 months. In another modification, I nearly doubled my payments for 3 months, thereby further reducing my total number of months. That one was particularly fun, because the Trustee's assistant was sure I had underfunded my plan. I gently explained to him that the difference he was seeing was due to the reduced amortization of interest being accrued over the term of the plan in my secured/crammed down thingy.

Once you understand your plan, and realize how elastic it is, I think that (for some) it should be far less scary to do a 13. And (having read through some of the other threads) modifications are not terribly difficult, so I don't understand why people who hire attorneys have such a difficult time getting a mod done when they need to. Whenever I can, I like to dump more money into my plan, and reduce my "sentence". I have modified mine an average of every 6 months due to fluctuations in circumstances. One of those, they placed so far out on the docket for hearing, I ended up having to request an expedited hearing because I couldn't wait that long for the resolution. That worked out ok, too.

In fairness, however, I think I have THE most reasonable Judge and Trustee on the planet. I know he isn't "my friend", but my Trustee has turned out to be my most excellent worthy opponent, and I have utmost respect for him.

36 months down. 17 to go.

This past September, I finally DID have one payment go astray in the mail. I was in communication with the Trustee's office about it before they even knew it was missing. The original finally DID get delivered to them, more than 2 weeks after I mailed it but I had already put in a stop payment on the money order, gotten a refund, and issued the replacement by the time they received it.

Thanks! I know you are absolutely correct. When I first came to this board I actually tried to visualize each anniversary milestone, and they seemed forever away. Now, they still seem forever away...but in the past, which is so much better. :-)
