    Funny thing happened today...

The trustee in my Ch7 case sent me something in the mail today... problem is, I didn't get it.

Why, you ask? Because the trustee's legal assistant failed to put a stamp on the envelope! I got one of those wonderful cards asking me to come down to the post office say there was "postage due" in the amount of 44 cents (though, on the bright side, I did find out there is a post office closer to my house thanks to this card... lol).

How should I handle this? In the law offices I've worked at, we've picked it up and billed the client accordingly... can't exactly bill the trustee, and it could be time-sensitive information.
    Bazinga!

How about just returning it to sender for insufficient postage.

Well, considering how important this is to you and your life...I'd foot the .44 and not make an issue of it.

Well, if you want to be a stickler, then I'd have it returned for insufficient postage. But I'd just pay the 44 cents because if I didn't, I'd be sitting and wondering what was in that letter.
I may be smarter than an attorney, but I'm not one. No legal advice here, people.

Have you checked Pacer? I would gander to guess that whatever is in that letter is contained in your docket report

Not necessarily. The only thing that goes on the docket are actual things that require service of process or for other notification requirements. I have received many letters from the Trustee, during my Chapter 13, and not one of them was on the docket.

But, I will concede that checking PACER is not a bad idea in case it's a Motion or something else. Even if it was a motion requiring service, the service would be inadequate or faulty... but that's another topic for another thread some day.

For the record, I picked it up yesterday -- it was the Chapter 7 Trustee Questionnaire (and it's easily the most poorly formatted document I've ever encountered). They did put sufficient postage on it... for its weight; they failed to take into account the envelope's thickness.

And I was a little upset: I thought I had found a post office closer to my home when I got the pickup notice and was really excited about it. Turns out it's a "carrier annex" and they can't provide any services of any kind -- just pickups.

If you were in Missouri yesterday, then perhaps. lol

Thumbs up, not only is the .44 insignificant why would you piss off a trustee over .44 cents? Pay the .44 cents and send a very nice email to the trustee about the mishap.

Pro Se is a game of chess and the UST's pieces are all Queens, you're in check all the time until discharge.
