Vehicle - Reaffirmation, ride through, get one before filing?

We're looking to file on or around Nov 15 pro se.

Trying to decide what to do with vehicle thorugh Nissan Finance. They're BK dept is closed but was going to ask them about possibilities of loan modification. Unfortunately its a lease and we're hoping for a conversion to a loan

In the event they wont entertain a loan mod in a reaffirmation we were wondering if we should just get a vehicle before filing. Would the 60-90 day "rule" still apply to wait before filing if we got a car now? We'd probably turn in the vehicle to Nissan so that we dont have two car payments.

Or should we wait to see what might happen with reaffirmation. If they dont modify we wont reaffirm. Does the ride-through apply to Texas? Anyone know if Nissan would repo even if we make on time pymts?

We're afraid of not having a vehicle after discharge....Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Also tax returns for 2010 will not be required unless I wait until January right?

    Thx!

I think the 60-90 day rule mainly applies to unsecured charges and cash advances. Buying a secured car, that you plan to reaffirm, shouldn't cause too much trouble.
