I filed. Hooray!
There was no line. The office was empty. I took a seat at the counter and watched as the clerk went through my paperwork, stamped this and that, gave me a few informational sheets, proof of filing, and stamped my own copy of the paperwork. No questions, no problems, though she said that if the trustee had issues he or she would contact me. They'll send me notice of the 341 date and of the subsequent dates when my filing fee installments are due.
Preparing the filing documents and trying to do it well was some work but now I feel fairly confident, knowledgeable about the process and like I have a fair amount of control because I know what's going on and how to get information about my pro se filing. This feels very manageable and I feel a lot better about it than I did years back when I filed Chapter 13 with an attorney that I quickly came to regret retaining. It's because of this forum that I am able to feel this comfortable -- the Nolo books are great but, at least for me, being able to ask questions and read about the experiences of others makes all the difference.
I'm hoping for a quick 341.
Thanks everyone for your help and for sharing your experiences.
