Do you have any idea where I could find the answer I need regarding the IRS's installment agreement? Other than calling the IRS, I mean. Last thing I wanna do is tip any creditor off to this prior to getting the wheels rolling.

    Thank you again!!

What is the real issue? What will happen when you file, is that the installment agreement will be voided.

You will need to setup a new agreement. I just went through this myself since my IRS arrears were handled in my Chapter 13. Upon conversion, the IRS payments stopped. About 2 weeks ago, the IRS sent the standard "important notice" letters indicating an intent to levy. So I called and setup a payment arrangement. It's a little more per month than I was paying in my Chapter 13, but it keeps the IRS at bay. (The reason it's more is because inside a Chapter 13, there is no interest on the amount still past due.)

Let me see if I got this right. The installment agreement stops and becomess void. Once I emerge from the procedure and get my discharge, I just set up a new one and they're cool with it?

Assuming that's a yes above, the Franchise Tax Board (CA) has my installment agreement application and acknowledged it but has yet to approve it. Same basis applies? I.e., application for areement becomes void, set up new one on the other side?

For the IRS, yes... it's that simple! I called them on the phone. You can set up your payments by phone, or you can talk to an agent. I found it better talking to an agent. They are ULTRA friendly!!! Better than any creditor you'll ever speak with!

As for California, I would ask them to "hold" the application and then have them continue to process it after your discharge. That way you won't have to reapply.

Totally simpler than I thought. I might save that 2K after all. I'm sure I'll be back with more questions later, but Thanks a Million!!!
