If you have passed the means test for chapter 7, losing your job should have no impact to your filing. It would, if you failed the means test, or if you are forced to file chapter 13 due to means test, you can use the job-loss event to convert the chapter 13 to chapter 7, but I don't see any of these apply to your case.

No effect on your case.
How strong do you really think your argument is to have your student loans discharged? Are you functionally disabled, is your likely career path such that you cannot pay them back. You do realize that to win one of these student loan discharges, you typically need a expert witness or two.

Well, as HHM eludes to, you would need to prove that you cannot reasonably be expected to pay back those loans over the remainder of your natural life. This may require expert testimony and all this through your adversary proceeding (AP).
If you actually have a degree from an accredited school, you should be able to be more than a Wal*Mart greeter. You should be able to get on the management program (whether training program or not), at everything from McDonald's to... well... Yeah, jb, I agree with you, BUT, there is alive and kicking and fully functional, the whole age discrimination thing. Trust me. I have had no shortage of interviews, that's for sure. But I have been politely told I am "over qualified" for more positions than I care to count. Jobs that I thought I was a shoe-in for. It's sickening. I'm not quite as old as the OP, but I am guessing that ageism bar must go up somewhere around 40 - 45. Yeah, it's illegal but go ahead and try to prove that it even exists.
I have an Associates degree in Accounting and a Certificate in Business Management. How over qualified can I possibly be? I never even got my Bachelor's degree! a) too busy working. b) didn't want to incur student loan debt.
And I even have an advantage. I have a disability. I am allowed to work - - in fact encouraged to work - - up to a certain amount each month, and that would be really awesome helpful right now. The Social Security administration will even subsidize my work related expenses if I go back to work, and the Trustee can't touch that. I go into interviews with nondisclosure, because my disability is not obvious and I don't require special accommodations. And I am told I am overqualified. Even though I haven't even worked at all in more than 2 years?
I don't think so.

Yes, I was accidentally copied on one employer e-mail that said I was too "experienced". Many jobs in my field I see advertised have an upper limit on how many years' experience they want people to have! Or they say specifically they want new graduates, etc. And, indeed, in one rejection they told me I seemed very skilled but were worried I wouldn't be happy doing it. So far, employers seem to agree that I'm very capable, and interview well, but in the end they always say no. (Got another rejection today.)
Medical receipts: sounds sensible, yes, they can add up to a lot. We're currently in the position of forgoing some treatment because we can't afford it. Medical bills were the most common kind of creditor we got discharged from.
