Help with Creditor Matrix and exemption question

Hello everyone!! I am planning on filing chapter 7 early next week and need some help.

    I have 2 seperate questions:

I need some help related to completing my creditor Matrix (Florida). I have pulled my current credit reports and most of my debts have been charged off and I do not know if any other companies have purchased the debt. If the original debt is listed, is that sufficient to clear the debt from anyone who may have purchased the debt and not reported it to the credit agencies, or do I need to find if anyone else is holding that debt and list them as well to have it discharged?

The second question is related to exemptions. In Florida, autos are exempt up to $1000 in equity. If I have a car that has $1500 in equity can I exempt the first $1000 with the auto exemption and the remaining $500 with a personal property exemption? How would I list this on Schedule "C"?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

You need to read those state exemptions carefully. You do know they were updated in December, right? Basically, if you are claiming one item under more than one exemption, across your schedule C you will list the statute you are claiming $xx.00 you are claiming under that statute, and then immediately below that, list the second exemption statute and the $xx.00 you are claiming under the second statute. In the appropriate columns of course. Your trustee might not like your exemptions and you might have to modify Schedule C after your 341, but they should clearly inform you if there are any problems.

Oh sorry, I missed the other part of your question. As to the matrix, I think it is best to list the original creditor on the schedule, and then "also notify" any subsequent debt collectors.

For my "duplicate" creditors or collection agencies, I wrote either "duplicate" or "For Notification Only" in the description.
