Multiple collections for 1 debt

Today I got a letter from a collection agency concerning a debt I will be including in my chap 7 pro se filing. This is the second collection company to send a request payment for this debt. So presently I am getting collection letters from the original company I owe the monies to and 2 different collection agencies. Do I need to list both? How comon is this?

List both collection agencies and the original creditor. You only list the amount under the original creditor so you are not duplicating your debt.

It is very common for collection agencies to sell debt to other agencies or original creditors to assign to one agency - then take it back and assign to another agency.

Exactly what starting over said. We had as many as 4 collectors for 1 debt. For "consideration for claim" on schedule F, we put "Collection for XXXXX" every time we had a collector, and those were listed directly under the original debt.
