    Notice regarding creditor matrix

    Well, I finally got filed!

Today, I received in the mail a Notice Regarding Creditor Matrix which states:

"The debtor or debtor's attorney must review the electronic certificate of mailing for the 341 meeting of creditors that will be entered on the case docket to verify that the parties listed on the mailing matrix submitted by the debtor were mailed notice of the 341 meeting."

Do I just have to look over the certificate of mailing once it is posted on PACER or do I have to do something further? It seems to me that it just means that I need to verify that all of the creditors are listed on the certificate of maililng...is that correct?

    Thanks,
    ~JAG

Congratulations on getting filed! I felt a HUGE relief once I got that part done! I didn't have to do anything additional with the matrix, I think it's standard to tell you to look it over.

Thanks so much! I also feel a huge relief getting the filing done. I'm still nervous about things to come...the waiting will be nerve-wracking...but that weight on my shoulders seems to have been lifted!

Thanks for your insight into my question. I'm so nervous I'll overlook something that I keep second-guessing everything!

Congratulations on getting all that paperwork done! As already stated, you are responsible for making sure your creditors receive notice. If any of the notices are returned for whatever reason (no forwarding address, wrong address, etc), the Court will let you know. I received two "bouncebacks" after I filed. No problem at all, just updated it with the clerk.

If I may ask, what was your situation? I am interviewing lawyers, however, they all seem to think my situation is a no brainer. So, I was actually thinking about doing this myself and saving a few thousand bucks. I know the old saying, "he/she who defends himself in court, has a fool for a client," but, he who files bk, normally doesn't have a few thousand $$$$ to spare. Anything you can offer will be appreciated.

The only thing I can offer as advice is to read everything you can about BK, try to learn the ins and outs, study your local BK court website (as different districts have slightly different requirements for things, and there may be local forms that you need when filing). The Nolo Chapter 7 book is a wonderful help, as are the amazing people here on this forum.

It really depends on your comfort level with the whole process, your attention to detail, the amount of research you are willing to do and the amount of time you are willing to invest to go at it on your own.

I'd suggest printing out the BK petition forms, sit down and try to fill them out - just to get a feel for the process and see if you think with some time and studying you could confidently do it.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

I just logged into Pacer and saw that I have 136 addresses on my credit matrix. What's up with that?!?!? How many did all of you have on yours? Even the IRS gets multiple notifications. I don't like that one bit. I just know this is going to open up a major can of worms down the road. VERY NOT COOL.
